brake wiring I/S trunk

Why couldn't I tap into the green with red trace to brake light. Schematic shows green with yellow trace branches to green with red. For some reason the green with red didn't have that curcit to it,To wire in the stop light back off blinker.

you can do it...I hooked another set of lights up at the taillights.  Don't remember which wire I used...but it was to the brake light.
