Password Has Appeared in Data Leak

So, I am using my iPhone to look at an app having to do with my bank and at the bottom of the screen this message shows up and then goes away.

Valyrieforum.com  -  This password has appeared in a data leak, which puts this account at high risk of compromise.   You should change the password immediately. 

So, I look it up on the web and found this site.

So, I am changing my password here but how did it get compromised????  What data breach????

Or did I miss something on here about a data leak?

No idea but, are you sure that message wasn't a scam to get you to link to something else which was part of a scam.   I'm pretty much illiterate as it applies to this stuff.

Yes, I considered that so, the only way I would address the issue is directly though the board here.  I have a "wallet" (for lack of a better term) in which I keep passwords and userids.  Its local to my computer but, since things are backup automatically to the iCloud, its not totally secure. 

It is also how I generate passwords so they are random. 

Not as random or as long as passwords generated by the MacBook but I think they are sufficient.

        Call me old fashioned BUT I do absofrikkinlutely NO/NONE/NADA/NEVER access my bank info on line or from my phone. And my account with U S Bank and my Credit Card and my Debit Card have Protections from dat sorta chit. My Debit Card took a hit in Oregon after I had retired. NO charge to me as fortunately I was in the bank when the time lines were checked. RIDE SAFE.

Bill, the news about 2 weeks ago was some billion passwords (everywhere) were compromised.

I know some of my military and VA records were compromised some years ago (including my security clearance background).  I never did any looking or worried about it much;  when it's millions of records, it's hard to figure they will ever get to me, or do anything to me with them.   

I can't see how my VRCC password would get anyone anything (but a way to post bad words on here).

I never have anything going to the "cloud"...you're asking for trouble sooner or later. My son-in-law, former IBM tech and now has his own business showed me just how easy it was to get into it.
