Hi all,

My 99 Interstate has the three 'piggies' in each exhaust pipe cut back to about 1.5".
I am wanting to lengthen them. I have noticed that 3/4" copper plumbing fittings slip right over the steel pipes.
My question is , can these be successfully bonded through soldering, like with plumbing? Or is there an epoxy or something that can be used to bond two Copper and Iron/Steel.

Best regards,

Glenn

yes...you can weld with a wire-feed welder, or you can solder or braze using a flux.

I performed this operation on my '99 I/S just before installing the truck stacks and I am totally satisfied with the results...JTL  ;D ;D ;D

Jim,, you must be showing your age.. An experienced [ I won't say old] aviator like yourself quieting a motorcycle ??  I'm shocked !!

Patrick, I'm getting hard of hearing.  Too many center-fire & shotgun shells fired, too many hours of running outboard engines, too many hours straddling a two stroke, and too many hours in those noisy old airplanes.  However, I'll gladly learn to live with a little hearing loss for all the thrills and the memories...JTL ;D ;D ;D
