Time to Dark Side my Interstate and get rid of that icky MC specific tire that it came with.

Tire has been ordered, but as I've aged I've grown to absolutely loathe wrenching. I can do it, I've done it, I just hate it.

Does anyone know of a shop in the D/FW Metromess (Preferably eastern part) that you'd trust a Valkyrie to, and is willing to do a Dark Side tire as a ride in/ride out service?

Realize this is becoming a long shot as our ladies are aging, but figured it's worth a shot at least...

(Or even if any members would be willing to do it for cash, I'd be open to that too.)

Thanks!

I can't help with a place to go as I do all my changes myself.  I did buy Daniel's motorcycle tire changer earlier this year but have only used it for riding mower tires and I can't say I did those changes with aplomb! Took a while and the sizes of the wheels (6" front and 8" rear) probably had as much to do with it as my lack of knowledge.  No idea of how long or how much damage I would cause to a Valkyrie rear wheel.  But my price is right.

My shop here in Pampa will do it. I admit this is the EXTREME Northeast edge of DFW though.  :coolsmiley:

Just for S&G I blanket e-mailed and texted every motorcycle repair shop in a 30 mile radius I could find, and one of 'em just called me back, said they're familiar with Valkyrie rear ends and have no problem doing a car tire, have done it multiple times. I'm oncall for work so can't leave the house for a few more days, but looks like I'll be headed to Lewisville right soon:

You sir, are a born salesman!

Interesting place, it looks like an industrial storage park, guess it keeps their prices down.

$117.50 out the door to do a rear tire change on an Interstate, pretty good price looks like to me...

Did it quickly and no speech about dying flaming death from the car tire...

Did that include all labor (taking the wheel off, servicing the splines, etc) so you just had to ride it in and ride it out?

Yes. Rode it there, rode it home. (I didn't, friend did it for me since I was oncall at the time.) Tire disposal fee, taxes, everything was $117.50 out the door...

(Now, if I were smart I'd pull the rear end myself and verify everything was done properly back there but that'd defeat the purpose of paying someone else to do it.)
