Yep, saw them interviewed this morning, they really weren't sure why they were supposed to stop and pay their respects, they simply knew their parents would have so they did.
They may have been a bit overwhelmed by the TV interview but, I believe my interpretation is correct.

Good kids !  Yep, goes back to the parents and good adults around them.

I know kids [ as well as a lot of people] today get a bad rap. A whole lot of it is justified. There are lot of clueless rude people around and it runs off to kids.

That said, I find an ever increasing gap, or maybe caste system, amongst kids. Some kids are as dumb as a mud fence while others are  polite, respectful and a lot smarter than I was at their age.  And I enjoy the heck out of talking with kids like that.
