Anybody ever use the Shinko SE-890 Journey front tire?

Goes for $133.86 on Chapmoto, not a bad looking tire but always hesitant to change brands I've had good luck with so far. However, a new Metz 888 goes for about $251...just a bit on the high side so looking for something with good history and less money. So far haven't found a rear tire that will work although some are pretty close.

I've run seven of them between my three Valks. I really like everything about them except for being made in China.

  Yep, let's get away from China when we can!  I really like the Bridgestone which are avaiable at J&P cycles at a good price.

SHINKO TIRES ARE NOT MADE IN CHINA

For what it is worth, I have been running Shinko 777 whitewalls front and back for about 6 years with NO issues at all.


Established in 1946, the Shinko Group began as a manufacturer of bicycle tires and tubes in Osaka, Japan that today has become a burgeoning manufacture of rubber products.

In 1998 the Shinko Group purchased the motorcycle tire technology and molds from Yokohama Rubber Co., and began production of these products under the Shinko Tire brand. With manufacturing based in South Korea and design based in Japan, the company has seamlessly combined Japanese engineering and design principles with South Korean production and quality control standards. Today Shinko Tires produces approximately 200,000 motorcycle tires per month.

     I've used them John. NOT scary in the rain like some brands I could but won't name. Right after I bought Phatt Ghurl and was runnin 12 14 G a year I only needed one for those miles. RIDE SAFE.

Just ordered the new Shinko, decided to do it now rather than wait til next spring...mostly due to the reduced prices now at most dealers. Got it from Rocky Mtn. ATV for $126.88, free shipping. Ordered a couple extra 2 oz. bags of beads while at it, already have the metal valve stem. Merry Christmas to me!

I have used the shinko SE890 Journey in the rear, but not the front.  For an even better deal (lower price),  I really like my Shinko front tire 230 tourmaster.  I know 4-5 years ago still fine and at that time was under 100 bucks.

I've ran them front and rear.

Didn't like it on the rear.

The only complaint that I had with the front was a low speed vibration that I could feel through the handle bars.

I've been running the Shinko 230 Tourmaster on the front of my Valks for several years and have ZERO complaints.

They're about $100, last for 16k-18k miles and are very comfortable in the rain.

I'm on my third 230 tourmaster on front of valkyrie. Same tire, first time, on front of her fat boy trike.

They do good. Will put same brand on front of both goldwings when its time.

Wow...that was fast. Ordered the new Shinko on the 4th, delivered this morning. Good looking tire, has a 3521 mfr. date so looks to be around the end of August or early September. I'll keep it covered in the guest room rather than the cold garage. Wisconsin winters...ugh!    Mount it next spring.

that is a very NEW code date.  I have received cycle tires from other companies and most were pushing 2 year old code date on them brand new.  Once I called up and complained wanted a newer code date like 1 year old since not a high mileager and they said sorry, if under 2 year old code date is fine nothing they can do about it as far as returning it for another one.

Yeah Cookie, figure it's no more than 4 months old at the most...and it's stamped "made in Korea" which is fine with me.
