Back for their semi annual pilgrimage.  Saw some a few days ago and made a short trip in the car and smashed some.  Just wanted to remind everyone about the Peroxide in a spray bottle trick.  Spray them as soon as you get  home and let them bubble a few minutes, but not long enough for it to dry.  Then wash most of them off with a hard spray of your water hose.  I have never seen any damage on motorcycle or car/truck.

Tundra

Thanks Terry. I learned that trick from you many moons ago and have been using it ever since. I'll be riding North today as soon as I solder a water heater supply line leak.
If you can't be a good example: be a WARNING!!

We haven't seen any yet down our way. I'm sure it won't be long though. :tickedoff:

I thought they came in May and September. Haven't seen any on the treasure coast yet.

And Lesa and I are heading from the house over to the town of Suwanee for the weekend. Front of truck should look like black shag carpet by the time I get back........

Rode to Leesburg yesterday from my house, about a 45-minute ride.  Did see many on the way. Rode home at dusk and when I pulled into the garage I was surprised how many were splattered on my windshield, headlight, etc.

Had to break out my spray bottle of peroxide.

25 mile trip Saturday home from Gainesville around lunchtime, truck front was a mess.  Best to travel during cooler part of the day if you can.

Tundra

Have not yet seen a single one...down in the city. I think you guys killed them all, thank you!
It has been excessively windy the last couple days though. Miss those little buggers, love the smell on the rag when I'm done getting them off. I remember someone used to post a little bug emoji every year. I think it was DD?

They are some nasty bugs. Sure glad we haven't seen them up this way in the pan-handle yet. The last couple of years they haven't been too bad like previous. I think the Lovebug :police: have been working my area.  :coolsmiley:

Lesa and I got home from the river yesterday about 1PM.
I sprayed the whole front end of the truck down with WD-40 and let it sit.
This morning I hit it with an electric pressure washer and it actually did a pretty good job.
The entire front of the truck looked like black shag or indoor outdoor carpet!! Windshield and side mirrors as well.
Did a hand wash as well to get rid of the dust from the dirt road.
On a good note we had a blast on the river for almost three days.

BTW I am back on line after a very long time and I would like to hook up with other Valk riders in the area - I live in the Bellview/Ocala area

Thanks,.

Nothing eats them....not even those guys.

We didn't get many at all in Leesburg till the ride home Sunday. Bikes a mess. Went up through salt springs miconopy and Gainesville (appointment) Monday and came home with plenty on my truck. At least it's easier to clean than the bike.

Rode about two hours today and mercifully we haven't seen ant of the fornicating bugs down here yet.
We had 2.5" of rain in the last two days and that may have slowed them down.
