Pingle/fuel/engine hangers

Forgot to post this when I changed my petcock. I was concerned I would not be able to use my engine hangers. I reinstalled them and just trained myself to reach under...That dog will hunt! I also I also removed the fuel selector handle from the round face plate with the on/off/res.. Reinstalled that and JBWelded a shiny new quarter smack dab in the middle. Looks great, works great.


My old petcock bench tested ok...rebuilt several times in several months, now all fuel and petcock related problems are gone. Don't understand

QUESTION...Check out the crap in this fuel, keep in mind I emptyed and cleaned this tank out twice this year. Some of the rust colored junk was metalic (stuck to a magnet) What do you think? Did I get this crap from gas stations? I did not see any rust in my tank? Can fuel cleaner additives cause problems? Iv'e added Techron several times this year and generally use Lucas fuel additive? Seems like a lot of junk for three monts since last cleaning???

Tundra,  Nice job.  I had the same with my original petcock, looks and tests fine, just does not work.  Pingle works great!!  talk to you soon.

I would like to know what other Pingle users have done with the left side their machine,.

Yes you get most of that stuff at the gas pump.  Rinse it out ever time you take the tank off.
98% of gas stations have clean gas.  It only takes one fill up at a small country station in the
middle of no where to get what you have in the bucket.  And never fill up when you see a
tanker siting at the station.

Thanks Kilroy...Thanks Lee   Yup, I was buying my fuel from a non-ethanol gas station in St. Petersburg. He has since been shut down for non-compliance. His tanks were VERY old, he was told that he needed to replace them and get insurance. He said no (Privately owned, no lien holder) He said they can't tell him what to do, as he owns it outright. Guess he was wrong. Probably where I picked up the crap. Only high volume brand name gas station for me in the future.

Tundra, contaminated fuel may well be the cause. Having had to deal with a rusty tank, I would not assume anything. Get and inpection mirror and a small flashlight and check the condition of the tank when empty. If you see rust, check out caswell plating.com. They make a 2 part epoxy specifically for gas tanks that is far better than it's competition. Their site goes into tamk cleaning as well; pay close attention, like other coatings, surface prep is critical.
Lastly, get a fuel filter, you are at risk for hydrolock.

You're reaching under the engine hanger?  I don't have hangers, and didn't figure my hand would fit through there if I did.  If I'm reading right, very cool.

If he keeps closing that Pingel, his risk is minimal.

Yes, I'm reaching under the engine hanger, inward and upward. I practiced my reach in the garage until I mastered my new technique. Now I can do it in flight, no problems, no looking or thinking about it.

Somebody on here listed an engine hanger that was supposedly made to work with the Pingle.  I tried to locate the website, but couldn't find anything.  Anyone know of these hangers?
