I think I found out why some of us think these pipes are too loud and some dont.  Ok, y'all know I had a little mess-up and just fixed the bike back.  Well I had to buy ONE Cobra pipe to replace a damaged one.  The new one came with a baffle even though it wasnt supposed to, so I just slapped it on.  Well, the sound was different, a tad louder and more harsh (even with changing just one)

So, I removed the new baffle and the old one from the damaged pipe.  They were different, and it turnes out I had 3 of each before this work.  by changing one old for one new I had 4 of the one kind and 2 of the other.  One baffle has bigger holes in the baffling material than the other.

The more quiet baffles are the ones with the little handle thinggy going across the opening for you to grab a hold of for removal.  The ones without that are a tad harsher.

I am happy I have 3 of each, I like the sound and now that I changed back to the old baffle and have 3 of each my normal tone is restored.

Just thought Id share my discovery

And it sounds even better if you use Cobra "shorties" that are never intended for baffles.  They are about 5 inches shorter than regular Cobras and have not been drilled for any bolts/baffles. Now she sounds like the beast she is!
How much fun can I have before I have to go to hell?

Thanks Chris,
The bike I have now had those same baffles in the cobras. It was way too loud for me, so I put on a set of OEM pipes that had been drilled. I thought the baffles looked different than other cobras I've had in the past put didn't have a set to compare. I may change the baffles and put them back on.

Ya, I would imagine if all six were the quiet ones, I would think it was too quiet........so I cant imagine that would still be way loud for you.  Let us know how it goes

I have Cobras on all my bikes and I've never looked . I did run the yellow bike without the baffles for awhile but it popped ( back-fired ) when screamin' in the twisties so I put them back in. I'll look at the others tomorrow and see what I've got.

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

I checked mine tonight and they're all the quieter baffles. I wonder why there are two styles?  ???
