Any trike riders near Colorado Springs?

I am in Woodland Park and have a friend who desperately wants to be on a motorcycle one more time.  (She was paralyzed in a vehicle accident 30+ years ago and has no use of her legs.).  I take her for a ride in our convertible occasionally, but it isn't the same.  There is no way I can ride her on my bike, but I thought a trike might be an option.  (I have looked at renting a slingshot, but due to it being so low, I don't believe she could get in and out.)

She would definitely need a backrest.  Her core muscles seem pretty good, but I think we would all feel safer if she had arm rests as well.

Anyway, is there anyone who might be in this area during the next couple months who could help me make her dream come true?

Thanks!
Janice

Janice, how I wish I were closer but Green Bay isn't "in the neighborhood." I'd love to help her take a ride, and if there were a drive-in nearby even go for a burger so she wouldn't have to get off and back on. Here's hoping it works out for you & her.  :cooldude:

The picture below would be the chariot upon which she'd be riding.

She should look for a Goldwing trike. Reverse would be a much needed accessory.

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

If'n I was  closer, I'd be happy to take her for a jaunt.   Just this last weekend I gave my Mom's care giver (who is 70 years young) a ride on my trike.   She laughed and giggle the whole time.   Well, except for the one time I goosed the throttle a bit, then she squealed!   Regardless, I do hope she gets that ride.

It's only time and miles.      You can do this.

Apex Sports in Colorado Springs is one of the best dealerships I've ever worked with. The owner personally builds Goldwing trikes. It would be worth paying them a visit as they might have options or at least a suggestion.

Several years ago I took a test ride on one of their demo Hondas. The salesman suggested I ride up to the start of the Pikes Peak highway to get a good feel for the bike. How many dealerships do that?

John .... I wish you were "in the neighborhood" as well.  I'm sure she would enjoy a ride on your chariot.  Hopefully someone is near (or will be through this way).

Joe.... Reverse would indeed be beneficial for the driver. Aline just wants to feel the thrill one more time.  Every time I ride to her house, she has to put her hands on the bike and have me goose the throttle a little.   I wish I could put her on the back of mine, but it wouldn't be safe for either of us.

Josh has offered to try taking her for a ride, but I just don't think it would be safe for either of them.

Ron ... I agree with Willow .... It's just time and miles!  Where's your sense of adventure. Don't you and Alice needs to visit her sister?

Dave .... I really hadn't thought about contacting a dealership.  Thank you for the idea.  I have never driven a trike, so I would be hesitant to rent one.  Perhaps someone there has one though and would be willing to give up an afternoon.  Hmmmm.  I'll check it out.  Thanks!

There's also quite a few dollars involved in such a journey.   If you're bank rolling, I'll check my schedule.

Same response as given to Willow.    BTW, just visited with her sister last week in Columbus, IN.
The original comment was sincere, if I was closer I'd be happy to assist but.....

Apex is a very unusual dealership. The owner, Doyne Bruner, is often hanging out on the floor talking motorcycles. As I remember his wife runs the finance department. They give 10% off on OEM parts to AMA members. There's a break room where older riders often gather and tell riding stories. Employees stay there for years.

Doyne has his own private shop where he builds Trikes. I wandered in one day and saw a stack of Goldwing rear wheels, a byproduct of trike conversions. I saw a brand new one with the OEM tire, in black, to match my F6B. He sold it to me for $200, about the price of the tire alone.

I haven't been there for about 2 years, but doubt it has changed much. I really think it would be worth stopping by since you're so close.
