...except condolences to the family, loved ones, friends and coworkers of this ramp agent.  May she rest in peace.  How awful for her daughters.   :'(

You know what they called S-3's in the Navy ? "Hoovers" , because they were also known for this...

Seen videos of Airedales gittin sucked into the F 8 Crusader. Also F 4 Phantoms and I personally heard a guy go through the prop on my S 2 while deployed. All these years later Still tryin to figure HOW he survived. Only thing we could figure he got disoriented. Working around Aircraft Is DANGEROUS. Condolences to Her Family.  :'(  RIDE SAFE.

I've worked in aviation for 44 years now, it is an incredibly safe field of work.  But, for the novice and those that lose focus for even a moment at a critical time . . .

Unfortunately, most of us long timers know more folks killed in aviation than vehicle accidents.  It is a rather small community in many regards.

I agree with the above.   I was only on an aircraft carrier as an ET for about one year.  But I had watched lots of movies about WWII and the carriers and planes and pilots.  Every chance I got I would go put to the highest part of the island and watch the airdales (I think I can use that term) at work.  I called it "ballet" .  Always impressed me.

Per the article, the flight crew and just about everyone else followed established procedures.   Such a shame and waste of human life.     Whether it's aircraft, farm machinery, industrial equipment or simply riding a motorcycle, if one doesn't follow the established rules, someone is going to get hurt or killed.   Happens every day.   We've all seen it too many times.

Sounds like she was spacing out for sure, both in the meeting and on the ground.  Mercifully, she went out quickly.

And, with a bang!   :-\

On Yorktown CVS 10 where you watched from was called vultures row. I did NOT make that up. I NEVER got up on vultures row while deployed-I was part of the flight deck crew. I was part of the "ballet" you got to observe. When I visited Yorktown at Patriots Point I was finally able to observe from vultures row and stand at the con. I had ZERO idea how SMALL the con-wheelhouse was til I actually stood in it. And the wheel? itself was on the small side considering how Big Yorktown is. Not big as say Enterprise CVN 65 but still a large ship. Head on a swivel uncaged eyeballs and hyper senses ALWAYS at High Alert. Anything less-stay in the rack. RIDE SAFE.

Yep, I had to recover an aircraft at Ft. Irwin years ago when one of the passengers failed to follow instructions of the pre-briefing and what the crew chief told him as he exited the aircraft.

You just can't fix stupid is about all I can say.   Ya tell'em once, ya tell'em twice and you show them and yet, they still don't pay attention.   It's a shallow gene pool.
