I would like to remove the left side handlebar controls to get in and clean the contacts for the turn signal switch. I removed the screws from the bottom, but the top and bottom covers did not want to separate. I don't think I have to remove the grip, so what am I not doing right?  The manual just says to take the the assembly apart. Thanks Honda! >:(
Any advice is appreciated.
Jeff.

Thanks. Much appreciated. That was going to be my next move. My intention was to check wiring and connectors since my Hi-Beam light quit working. Even with a new lamp, the Hi- Beam still does not work.

Remove the two screws.  Depending on what's been done or age they may tend to stick to the bar or one another.  I've sometimes used a knife edge a9not good for the blade) to separate the two parts.

My guess would be that someone got overly ambitious with the grip glue.   ;)

The choke piece can run interference. I've had mine off 3 times for handlebar changes. I agree with the silicone spraying but I definitely have the halves separated to remove the access.

I'd do the right side also while I had every thing out.
