Could this be real. This was an email is response to an ad I have in the classifieds. Maybe I am too suspicious. :-\ In today's world I'am more cautious. I searched his name and the name the email came in with and got no results. I hope members responding to anything would include their member number.

Scoot, I received the same one on both of my ads....99% of the time if they are out of the UK they are a scam.

I got the same email too.

I got a similar one when I briefly put my Diamond up for sale.  Any awkward English is suspicious. If you respond they'll spam you at the very least.

When I redo the ad I'll ask for VRCC number and handle.  Even that is probably not enough.

what is the "correct" way to buy/sell in the classifieds?  at some point you have to send your check/item to that other person. how do you know you will get your item/check in return?

He also sent a phone number as well. I have heard of people then calling the nuber and big charges showing up on their phone bills.  :-[

I always get refrences from other VRCCers.

In the 3 or 4 exchanges I have done... we've both shipped either the money or the item, before receiving the other.

believe it or not, most of those originate in africa. somalia i think. they have had issues with this before. I had an email conversation with minister of information there over some spam, and she informed me of the trouble they have had. they use the uk because its more trustworthy that somalia....from what i was told...

A lot of these are picked up by automated email programs. That's why some of us put, into their email, an obvious "remove" segment. It should reduce the scammers a bit.

I was the recipient of this very same e-mail yerterday about my postings in our classified section.
Went directly into my spam directory!
