What is this electrical doodad?

Anybody know what that black box in the below pictures might be?  I don't see it in a parts listing I founds on Ron Ayers website under wiring harness.

The box was wire tied to the top of the temperature sensor unit right above it.  It doesn't look stock.  There is no writing on it.

In the third picture down there is some damage to the case, perhaps due to contact with the mount on the temperature sensor.  Looks like there are nine wires coming out of it.

The only thing I remember pulling off the bike, non-stock, was a set of 2 airhorns which required, of course, a 12 volt, on demand air pump.  Not sure if that could be something  related to that or not.  As I'm putting the clutch master and slave back on the bike I'll try to trace the harness. 

In the meantime if anyone could shed some light I'd appreciate it.

My guess is a solid state relay for the air horn you removed. Trace the wires to the stock horn wiring to find out.

While I was sitting in the backyard my neighbor stopped by for a visit.  He checks in on me from time to time to see what kind of motorcycle trouble I'm getting into.

I was putting the Valk's clutch cylinders together at the time so we were talking bikes.  Knowing his background with Hondas and his general knowledge in automotives as a mechanic of 30+ years I asked him to look at it and see if he had an opinion.  Turns out he did, it's a Kriss Starburst headlight modulator.  I had no idea what it was or that it was on my bike.  I also have no idea if it even works.  I'll have to determine that when I get it running again.

In the meantime I'll have to try to find/download the manuals.  Not sure I'm going to keep or if I'll have to work on it should I decide to keep it.

There is a bootleg shop manual online. Or, there used to be. I don't think it's supported on his site anymore. I'm sure I or others could email you a copy.

Thanks, it's good to know that at least the manual was around at some point. 

The PO had tucked the module behind the coolant overflow so I wouldn't even have found it if I hadn't gotten curious about what all was tucked away in there.  Eventually I want to do some deep cleaning in that area but there are several other maintenance tasks that have to happen first.

Additionally, when I had the radiator loose to replace the hoses, I discovered the chrome on the front cover was badly deteriorated and had large bubbles in it.   Large sections of it peeled off easily by hand.  I'll have to decide how to deal with that at some point as well.  Or I could just declare my 20k mile Valk to be a rat bike and just go with that.
