Has anyone tried removing the front wheel assembly without removing the brake calipers or just removing one brake caliper?

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

You can't do it.  The brakes will hit the sidewalls and you won't get the tire past it.

You only have to pull one side off.

Thanks Joe, after I did my wheel swap, I saw the one caliper removal done on a Goldwing. I was just wandering whether that technique would work on a Valk. I was thinking the removal of both calipers was a bit much.

Removing both calipers makes doing anything with the wheel a whole lot easier including reinstalling the wheel.

I simply use a bunji cord of the correct length to hang the caliper from the handlebars.

It is wise to tie the handlebars with a cord so they do not rotate, regardless of what you are contemplating doing with the front end.
