Does anybody have one of these on their bike?
They are for deer and use a sound wave to get their attention.

I'm "thinking" these were talked about before and most
people considered them a waste of money. I could be
wrong, but that's what my rememberer says. :-\

I've bought one to install, unfortunately, I won't be able to give a report till riding season up here. Motorcycle consumer News has asked people to send in their thoughts on it supposedly for a future story / test. I think it sounds like a solid idea and after hitting a deer at 50 mph a couple years ago, I'm willing to give it a try.

The previous owner of my Valk put them on and mounted them to the top of the radiator on both sides.

As a shift worker that works a rotating shift, I ride alot at night.  I also see alot of deer standing on the side of the road......especially during hunting season.  I also have loud pipes.

The deer don't even bother lifting their heads as I pass much less bother to even look in my direction.

I might not give the answer that you want me to

He bought two of them? Seems expensive. Are you sure they're the (active, powered) Hornets and not the (passive) cheap ones that you can buy at any parts store? Not doubting, just clarifying since I've already dropped $75 on them. Thanks!!

I think loud pipes work better, if I saw a deer when I had my VTX I would crack the throttle and they would run like they were being shot at.

Take it from someone who knows!  They work!  I've had one on my Valk for about four years.  While riding out in NM (I live in Atlanta) my wife and I were approaching a herd of elk, not deer.  You don't want to hit an elk.  They looked at my bike about 300 yds. away from them up the road.  I don't have and never will have loud pipes (decreases the power band and pisses people off, including other riders) so it wasn't the bike they heard - it was the Hornet.  I've also ridden on the Blue Ridge Pkwy. at night in fog and have seen deer look at me and NOT go across the road in front of me.  In fact, when I'm in a group of bikes, I volunteer to ride up front because of the horn.  I just bought six Hornets to install on my 'vette, pickup, SUV and give one to my wife's cousin (lives in deer country in NJ), my daughter/son-in-law and my brother. I don't remember the name brand however I had some on a car I drove back and forth to work ( I work in 8 southern states ) . I hit a deer doin' 85 mph on I-75 just outside of Athens , Tennessee . The deer removed them from the bumper along with the bumper , grill , hood and both headlights....They are nothing more than snake-oil IMO.

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.
