Going through all the important stuff. Getting it to a reliable driver has been an adventure so far. Getting ready to install a performance oil pan kit gets one looking close at lots of detail. Things needed torquing from when the original build was done 17K mikes ago. Cleaned some wiring up, new throttle cable. I'm sure learning a lot. My stepson knows way more than I and he's my guide.

The car is a blast to drive and it's only going to get better.

I did something similar on my new to me 1959 MGA back in the late sixties.  I was young, naive, but, it all worked out. It was cool.   Fun, fun.....

Congrats Chris,
I saw that picture of the Cobra engine and it tripped me up. I looked again and  sure nuff that is a Austin Healey.. with a 5L Cobra engine. Hoo ya. That has got to be fun.
I had to look back through old posts to figure out what was going on here. I see you bought an Austin Healey body on a full blown Cobra Chassis and drive train.

I expect you will have a lot of good times with her.

Yes, I couldn't pass on it. I really wanted an AC Cobra kit car but one in this condition would be minimum 60K. It handles like a dream and accelerates like a Valkyrie lol. Judy likes it enough to ride as much as she can. That was the whole point since she no longer is comfortable on the motorcycle.

The Cobra bike has a sister, the Cobra car

Now it's officially the COBRA CAR.  :cooldude:

Does FL only require a rear plate?

Michigan only had a rear plate, and this car had a big empty front hole (for a plate), so I stuck my US overseas plate in there.  It also made for confusing and conflicting witness reports.  ;D

I think more states don't than those that require a front plate....

LOL! It's been a bit boring today so I looked it up.  Twenty-nine states require leaving twenty-one that don't.

We are in the minority.   :)

What a great car, and I'm sure you'll keep it as clean as your Valk. If I ever stop riding, a convertible sports car makes more sense than a trike. The car handles much better, and in the wet a folding top is better than a rain suit.

awesome! its just not a car you see everyday.  :cooldude:

Parked under the magnolia tree in the shade to give her a good waxing. Also detailed a couple interior pieces like the steering wheel and dash. Sparkles a little more. No more vapor lock and we got the timing dialed in so it's running cooler and smoother. Also now getting 16mpg so I can actually get more than a couple miles from home without worrying about being stranded.  An absolute joy to drive and look forward to our first road trip

Beautiful, Jeff.  As clean as I expected it would be.  It's in good hands!   :cooldude:

Ok. So got the rear end all rebuilt after the bearings failed on the tally rally. But I got to ride all the rides with the Valkyries so it was a blast. Back on the road and took it to the RTE today. On the way home it was a proper British drive with a misting drizzle. Very enjoyable indeed except one thing.

I got fed up with the huge ugly rear view mirror in my face so took it off and installed a Cobra style chrome dash mount. Very sexy looking compared to the big black clumsy one like from a Buick. More mine now and more "Cobra" is a good thing.
