My friend has passed away and will be buried Friday. Receiving friends 12 to 2 Woodhaven funeral Home with burial afterwards 160 Edgemoor Rd Powell TN

Dude could ride! I used to manage to get next to him in traffic /in town at stops to hear a few minutes of Allman Brothers Band
I'll always remember the time I was walking behind the hotel & heard loud engine revving & breaking glass as if someone was throwing bottles at me & there goes Lucky 13 on 1 wheel flying by!!!  Asked him later why he was throwing bottles... turns out he had bottles in the cup holder, but they jumped overboard  during the wheelie.  Turns out he was running from hotel manager at the time who did not appreciate his stunt riding in the parking lot  

Gordon was a friend to many - this is just incredibly sad

he made me laugh every conversation I ever had with him. And he could really ride. He will be so missed but many great memories.

Mark Gordon Brooks
May 1, 1957 - July 21, 2024


Mark Gordon Brooks, age 67, passed away on July 21, 2024, at his home in Clinton, TN.

Born on May 1, 1957, Gordon grew up in Clinton, TN and graduated from Clinton High School. He went on to receive vocational training in welding and completed college courses toward a business degree. He spent many years as a welder in profession, but probably enjoyed the job most when he was welding a part for a boat or a motorcycle – either for himself or especially for one of his friends. Fishing was one of his most beloved past-times and hardly a day passed that he didn't find time to cast a line, even if it was just by himself on the bank of the culvert in South Clinton. Later in life he rediscovered a childhood interest in motorcycles and enjoyed traveling across the country on his Valkyrie, meeting so many friends along the way. He was a devoted and selfless father and grandfather, who loved his family and friends deeply, and would do anything for a friend in need. Gordon never stopped learning new things and could fix almost anything.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Edwin Brooks, and mother Flora Louise (Gault) Brooks.

Gordon will be dearly missed by his daughter, Mary Amber Dunn, son-in-law, Daniel Dunn, grandsons, Samuel and Peter Dunn, and sister, Marilyn Brooks; along with countless fishing buddies, fellow Valkyrie riders, and many dear friends who became family.

A receiving of friends will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a graveside service immediately following, at Woodhaven Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 160 Edgemoor Rd, Powell, TN 37849.

Gordon was indeed a very skilled rider and a very special man.  He will be missed by all who came in contact with him.

He certainly joins the list of too many too soon. We have lost a very special member of our clan.

He loved to laugh and make others laugh.

He was always ready to help someone, especially if they were having trouble with their bike.

He will be greatly missed.




Joe, I know that this is especially tough on you as you and Gordon were such close and lifelong friends.

Try to be thankful for the time that you guys had together as friends and cherish the memories that you guys made.

Going to miss riding with him, and listening to him complain because Joe would always be standing in his field of view while  driving the boat.

Gordon always cut jokes, brother was in the zone when he had a fishing pole in his hands.

When Gordon thought he almost killed our big friend RDA Bull with the electric bench prank at Eric's memorial ride, will always be my favorite and best memory. Never seen Gordon enter a state of panic like he did that day. Ole Roger got the best of him!

Gordo will be sorely missed he was a great friend. Always enjoyed hanging out with him and B.S'ing.
Always remembered to never ask him to move my bike as when you did he definitely moved it but usually on one wheel 
We have so many fond memories I could go on and on.

So sorry to hear of Gordon's passing, he was someone I looked forward to see at each ride.  I'm sorry that I won't be able attend his funeral/internment, but I'm currently in NOLA.  Please say goodbye to him for me Joe.

I've seen the entire bottom of a Valkyrie standing straight up more than once. I met Gordon fishing when I was a kid probably 9-10 years old we was both on bicycle's can of worms and Zebco 33. Has been my friend since then . I'm going to miss him .

Oh man ... I'm still stunned .
It's  funny I was looking for  his  phone  number  the  other day.
I was just going to give  him a  ring..
And I couldn't  find  it.

And  Yes   I too have  seen much higher  wheelies  from him..
Like  up on Mount Mitchell that one  time...

I  never  forget when a  small group of  us  broke  off, I think it  was  on the  FCR ..Just for  something  different .
And  we  rode  to where  the  2001 Olympic water  park was  .  

And  we stopped  along the  river, and  we  saw  these , Kayaker's and rafters.
LOL  And  Gordon said  " How  much for  the  women " !
They didn't  reply so he  started  to throw  rocks  at them and said  again. " How Much for the women " !

We all were  laughing so hard  that day..
Then there  was something ;  I  think Don said , hey flip one  of  them rafts  over  and  see if  we  won ..
Like  in the  ducky races.. LOL

I was so shocked to hear this news the other day!

I'm fairly new to the Valk community (5ish years) so I never got the opportunity to see Gordon do wheelies... and I never actually road with him because I know that I can never keep up with the 'Cool Kids' so I never joined their rides.

But as everyone has stated he was the 'life of the parking lot' each night of the rides I attended with him! Always smiling and making people laugh!

I will now cherish the hours I spend chatting with him on Saturday night at Lil' Abner this May!

He will be missed by me along with many others!

I'm so glad I met him through this group and I'm sure we'll be talking about Gordon on every ride in the future!

I wish I could be there Friday, but I'll be in the U.P. attending Gig's ride.

Sad to hear , never really got to sit in conversation with him , mostly just short passing chats..always had a smile (or onery grin) on his face...saw a wheelie or two at DRU , and if memory serves me , he commondered a bike with sidecar and was driving it hard on 2 wheels , almost horizontal....seemed like he lived life to it's fullest with an ongoing sense of humor...I've always appreciated people like him that aren't afraid to share their sense of humor no matter the circumstance...condolences to you Joe (good friends like that are hard to find) and to his family !

Big Eric had a park bench at the Flight 93 in PA ride a few years ago.  It was set up with an electric shock remote so that he could hit you after you sat on it.  He got me good!

At Erik's memorial ride (4 or 5 years later) they had the bench again.  They tricked (nod, nod) me into sitting on it again.  When they hit me, I faked that my pacemaker (I don't have one) was failing, and I started to collapse.
Gordon started hollering to call 911 and tried to prop me up on the bench.  That's when I hit him with a:  Gotcha!!.  I had been waiting on that one for years, Gordon just happened to be the one that fell for it.

Oh, was he pissed off.  He got over it and we had several laughs over the next few years.
His main line:  You better hope you never have a real heart attack, we're just going to let you F'ing die.

Sorry to read this.  Briefly met Gordon in Colorado some years back.  He was in full vacation mode!  As others have said, he had a good sense of humor!

Sorry to hear this.  I know that he helped anyone that needed help on their Valkyrie.  The ride that I remember was when a group of my friends from Florida and I met y'all at a gas station near Maggie Valley.  Gordon did a wheelie on that ride that all my friends talked about for years.

Joe, hate I didn't make it to Knoxville/Clinton yesterday. It was planned but Diane had to have arm surgery Monday and I'm caring for her now. Hope to see ya in Robbinsville in October.

I still have vivid memories of Gordon trying to hold you steady on the bench as the fake collapse began. Looking at everyone around with almond sized eye to get HELP
