Two of our regular riders in our breakfast group kind of collided awhile back. Small crack to the right side saddle bag on the GoldWing. Well the guy that felt responsible found a used bag on eBay that was the right color for $100, I was shocked it was so cheap.

Well, I volunteered to help switch out the bag.

It took 4.5 hours of hard work. A hundred screws some push pin fasteners. Wiring everywhere, under the seat, behind the bags had to take off the rear little fender thingy. The mechanism for opening the saddle bag is a nightmare in itself.

We all held our breath after it was back together to see if everything worked. Lid opening. Lights. Radio control.

Everything worked. I felt it was almost a miracle

And I thought replacing my Interstate trunk and rear speaker wiring was a PITA.

Just so you know, I'm jealous. I don't have a breakfast group and of the two morning groups I do meet with, none of them ride or even own a bike anymore. I'm not actively out looking for some group to join, but you would think I stumble upon some other distinguished grey headed gentlemen that still gets out of the house every once in a while. I might even be willing to volunteer to r&r a saddlebag. :cooldude:

John, I'll be riding up for DRU in Corydon, IN starting tomorrow. I plan to be there Friday evening. If you go, say "Howdy".
I ride a motorcycle because nothing transports me as quickly from where I am to who I am.

I sure would, but it's not to be :'( too many irons in the fire this riding season. Hope you have a great trip!

I snagged this off Facebook, we could include Valkyries too.

Full disclosure, I sort of blew a hole in the pyramid by changing my own air filter on my airbag Wing last winter! Not a job I would relish doing again. But it did offer the opportunity to check a lot of other things while having all that plastic off. I was hoping for another 10 hp, but I really couldn't tell a difference once I had it back together, but it did still start and run. ;D

I did the air filter on my 2018 DCT.  It was a challenge, but with the vids from "Fred" it was not all that difficult, mostly just time consuming.

For those who don't know, "Fred" is a video and mech guy that sells a package of vids with details of just about every process to maintain your Wing, outside of engine rebuilds.

Very detailed with many, many traps to look out for.

His products are available through the website GL1800riders.com

If you own a 5th or 6th edition wing, Fred's Vids are excellent.
