i have bought and installed 2 of these and neutral is still elusive.  by that i mean almost never can get it in.  whats the magic trick.  this is the most frustrating thing about my valk

Mine is also. Haven't redone the "fit" as of yet. Finding the sweet spot may be the fix but....

I have the Rattlebars kickshifter on both bikes.  Shifting down on the small toe peg is fine, but fishing for the thing to lift it was always a problem for me (short legs).  And I rode a heel toe shifter for many years before owning any Valkyries.

From first to neutral takes just the slightest nudge on the heel kicking down on the rear shifter peg (looking for the green neutral light).  Also, I often hit neutral while still slow rolling to a certain stop, which more reliably goes into neutral than at a dead stop. 

If I nudge too hard (often), I skip neutral and go to 2d. 

I can't reliably get neutral from 2d, so back to first and start over.

Thanks for your support for our Shifter Buddy, the Shifter Buddy will help you to find neutral, keep the seal from wearing and align the shifter shaft, but if the wear was already present in shifter shafts I don't think any shifter support can fix that, it will help.

Patience 

I have 4 Valk's and they are all somewhat different when I comes to hitting neutral.

One slips in like butter, 2 are a little work and is just stubborn, but so am I.

I have the shifter buddy as well, make sure you have a real one from Steve and not a knock off from eBay. I find neutral pretty easily, especially coming down from 2nd, just give it a little pressure down and it slides right into neutral with out hitting first.

many times adjusting the shifter one tooth on the shifter shaft does the trick.

Did you buy the Shifter Buddys from myself or Chuck? Or did you buy the eBay knockoff, just curious to where you got them.

All I can say is I put the Jersey Shift Bracket on my bike well after 100,000 miles. At the time neutral wasn't hard to find but it wasn't consistent. Sometimes I had to be "patient" as was said.

After the Jersey product I never missed second again and neutral is like right there every time. I don't even use the term "finding" it anymore. It's just THERE.
