Handlebar plastic clips

Changing front brake lines on my 97 and can't figure out how to unfasten the 2 plastic clips
on the handle bars without breaking them.

Such a small thing but my brain hurts :-\

If you break them, UV resistant black zip ties work.

Yeah. I had that backup in mind but was successful. It's a 2 process procedure. Slide sideways and then
depress the clip to release the line.

I guess cleaning the calipers every 27 years is warranted. All I ever replaced were pads.
With steel braided lines & lubricated slides, I should notice an improvement. So I should be
good until I'm 98.........

no clips, I used stainless steel picture hanging wire.
