I was out for a ride today and passed by Captain Bob's on Route 140 in Princeton. An RIP sign was hanging up on the building. His Obituary is at the link below.

Captain Bob ran a Wednesday Bike Night from the year 2000 to about 2008. In the early years it was packed with all kinds of bikes including a good representation of Valkyries. Even Valkrocket made the trip all the way from Plymouth with Tangman in tow, remember him?

I also remember some of the Connecticut Crazies making the trip, which is definitely crazy considering the distance.  ;D When I worked in Westford, MA, Bernie used to meet me at the local MacDonald's and we ride to Princeton for the Bike Night. That was a pretty good ride for him, too.

Some of us would go to the bike night from April until October. Lots of rides home in the dark. I used to tell Scott Davis to ride in front of me on the way home so he'd hit the deer first and clear the path for me.  ;)

It was a lot of fun, with some crazy times thrown in. Good times, trash talking, tire kicking made great memories over the years. Here's a picture of me on one of Wall's prior RGs at the Bike Night before it got crowded.

All good things come to an end and the Bike Night petered out. I kept on going there for lunch for many years after to shoot the sh*t with Bob. He was a crazy old coot!  RIP Captain Bob.

Yikes, look at all those youngsters!! So right Tony, the rides there in October and later were quite entertaining. I rode back with JR and Dot one and the roads were all icy, JR did not have any gloves he probably had to defrost for hours.  Good times.  RIP Capt.

I remember that night. Captain Bob's is at an elevation of 712 feet and it could get frosty up there. Once we headed south on route 140 to lower elevations it warmed up a little.  :cooldude:

;D Actually, we switched off weekly. One week he'd be in front and the next week I'd be in front.

Wasn't this group picture taken on the Cape?

Yes. Picture was taken at the Chatham Fish Pier on July 6, 2001. I think Steve Miles' wife Bev took the picture. We all went back to Steve and Bev's house after for a BBQ. They threw a nice party. It was a fun day!  8)

Thanks Hay!  :cooldude: Keep in mind that the photo was taken nearly 24 years ago. We don't look that good anymore.  ;D

Speaking of JR and Dot freezing. He showed up for one of the 9/11 memorial rides in a sweatshirt and no gloves. it was 40 degrees when we left and he was still shaking when we got to the stop in NVC. I made it to Captain's a few times and it was fun. RIP

Dottie asked me a questions a few months ago about the oil we used in the Valkyrie. I'm hoping JR is well enough to ride and may be getting that bike back on the road.

Yes, taken in Chatham in 2001....the VRCC's inaugeral Cape Ride. I'm surprised Martin is not in the pic, he was one of our original VRCC Cape riders.
Thanks for the memories, Tony.

Rumors of your memory decline are obviously false. Nice Job Ron!

Thanks Ron! I remembered everybody's name except for Wanda. I haven't seen Martin on a bike since June 2018, when a bunch of us met at the north-bound I-93 Hooksett, NH rest area on the way to Bike Week in Laconia. He was riding a Ducati at the time. A link to a picture of Martin, Rich and Brett at the rest area is below.

The only person in the Cape Cod picture that I'm still riding with is Gary. We took a ride yesterday to the Vanilla Bean in Pomfret, CT for lunch. It was a beautiful sunny day that started off in the low 40s but warmed up to the low 60s. Perfect riding WX.  :cooldude:
