Put Away the Snow Blower

Did a bunch of spring chores today, including putting away the snow blower. I'm pretty sure we're done with snow (at my location) other than a potential dusting. Also put down fertilizer plus crab grass control. I used to do this around April 15th. But over the last few years with the temps warming up sooner, I've been applying around April 1st, give or take. It's going to be cold and rainy over the next few days. So the fertilizer will get rained-in.

Overall the first half of March had some good motorcycling days in southern New England, including weekend days. I got out for four decent rides. One of them with Gary to the Vanilla Bean in Pomfret, CT.  Expecting to have many more days to ride in April.

This morning's forecast is calling for 3 to 6 inches of heavy wet snow coming in tomorrow morning @9..
Our lawns are still frozen, except for the spots where the sun hits for a few hours...
We will probably let Mother Nature take care of the snow covered driveway...
We have a family owned business come and treat our lawns 3 times a year, usually mid May is the first application...
Will be curious to hear weather report this evening, hoping maybe the storm has tracked farther south and west of us...

It's been downgraded to 1 to 2 inches, and starting @6am and outta here @ 10am....
A mixture of snow and rain for Sunday, then temps in the 40s next week....
Snowblower and shovels are one step closer to being delegated to 'out of sight out of mind' for a few months !!!

Less than an inch, actually less than a half inch fell this morning..There is more sand / gravel on the roads than snow....Oh well, April usually delivers substantial rains to wash the mess off the roads ..

Yeah, the sand will be washed away. Not sure about the gravel? Why is that on the roads? Migration from dirt roads and driveways? Gravel sucks.

1)...the sand part is the first to be tracked off and away, leaving the larger stone behind...
2)...the maintenance on our secondary roads is contracted out, and goes to low bidder. Not the best quality sand ...Rt 3 is the only road maintained by ME DOT
3)...broken hot top from pot holes in the roads...

Makes sense. We've got plenty of number 3 around here. Thankfully it's usually in the gutter of the street and hasn't been an issue on the rides I've taken so far.

Cars and trucks have hit the pieces of broken asphalt and knocked them off the roads Tony...
Freezing rain moving in tomorrow @ noon and lasting into the night... 1/10" plus expected. Changing over to all rain Sunday night and all day Monday...
