Alternator drive bushing needing replaced?

I have a rattle coming from the alternator area. I am thinking the rubber cushion is a goner in the alternator drive interfacing.

Does that sound likely at 105,000 miles on the odometer?

I am thing I'll just replace the alternator since I have to take it off anyway.

I just happened to have a similar issue.
It turned out to be a loosened shaft nut on a (aftermarket) alternator after just 3000mls

I needed new rubber dampers, then too, they took the damage.

That's how it sounded:

I cleaned and rebuilt the OEM Hitachi with new brushes.
Problem gone.

I'm still in negotiation with the seller of the alternator, it still has warranty.
But I wouldn't trust an aftermarket alternator anymore.
Two other members over here in Germany experienced the same issue with aftermarket alternators.
So they told me last week.

This exact issue happened to me a couple of years ago.  The alternator was only a little over a year old, so I suppose the nut wasn't torqued correctly on the assembly line.  I replaced it with a new Hitachi ordered from RonAyers.com.  I retightened the nut after putting Lock-tite on it to factory specs.  It is on the shelf just in case.  :)
