Wyoming Mountain Collapses Into Itself, Area Closed as Search Crews Mobilize

When I saw the headline in the "Subject" above I wondered what happened.  I had not heard of this before and I was wondering that maybe some of you here might be affected.

I hope not.  

But, I thought I'd just post the information so you could be informed about some, what they call, "Strange" happenings.

Local ranchers say they first heard what sounded like a "deep thunderclap underground" — no lightning, no storm clouds, just a single heavy shock beneath their feet. Moments later, the peak they had watched their entire lives began to drop straight down, leaving behind a steep-walled, bowl-shaped void nearly a mile across.

Within minutes, calls began flooding into local dispatch centers from across Natrona County as residents reported shaking, rattling windows, and a low, drawn-out rumble that some said lasted up to ten seconds."

Oh, I did check for other sources and found the same information but... One never knows these days.

And yes, this event listed above has been identified as "FAKE".  I did check and found other sources but did not check each source.  Will try and do better.

Yes just saw that a few minutes ago.  Looks like it was right on the Alaska - Yukon border near the shoreline of the Pacific Ocean.

Apparently, the story about a mountain west of Casper, Wyoming, collapsing into a mile-wide crater on December 6, 2025, is fake. It's a satirical hoax originating from Casper Planet, a popular Wyoming-based Facebook page run by oil field worker Justin Hathaway as a hobby for humorous, absurd "news" that mimics local reporting but is entirely fictional. The page explicitly describes itself as satire ("Delivering the Snews that doesn't matter directly to your Snews feed"), and Snopes has debunked similar Casper Planet stories as false before, such as claims of ancient cities under mountains or wind turbine blades flying like helicopters.
