The Towers and the sst Concorde

I remember as a kid I built lots of models,  69 Mach 1, 73 Vette, the Pan Am SST, PT 109
the Yorktown, the Bounty, a Buick Wildcat cant remember others off the top of my head

My uncle Dave, who was a marine on a bomber in WWII Pacific became the head electrician on the WTC project,  My friend Dean's dad Akira Yamasaki, whose family rode out years in the internment camp ended up chief electrician on the antenna that went up ON TOP of the towers

Giants among men but so humble   All Dave would say about his service was that they went through a bunch of planes before they had one that would not get shot down and that anti semitism was rampant back then.  He had to fly for hours during long missions but not allowed to take off or land while the crew played cards lol  19 yr old kids

Remember what was taken from us and take nothing for granted

Near the end of its service, my Dad flew the Concorde from London to New York.  He said it was the only time he'd seen the sun set twice in one day.

While it was in regular service to DFW, I knew that if I were outside about 3:15 on Sunday afternoons, I could see it fly over on its final approach.  It was identifiable by its unique sound.  So very cool!

Nice PIC Oss!  :cooldude:

There is a Concorde on display at the Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center which is at Dulles Airport in Chantilly, VA

The Enola Gay is there along with a XB-70 Valkyrie and many other aircraft.

If you are an aviation buff this is a great museum to visit.

Pluggy

At the original Yankee Stadium, you could feel the greatness all around you.  It was like the building had absorbed decades of history.  The new stadium doesn't have that.

Oss

Pluggy,  as a kid, before they rebuilt the facade in 67, there would be hundreds of kids on the southbound platform E161ST/Yankee Stadium as you could actually see the field for free from there

I may have accidentally hopped some subways to be one of those kids a time or 3

You had to switch from the #2 at E 149 St and then go north on the #4 to get to the stadium  about a 45 minute ride if you were lucky    We were dumb kids doing that and playing games like roof to roof 6 stories up   Amazing we all survived

Yeah the new stadium kinda sucks... no history

no idea why I cant see my pic anymore
