Now and then I back the bike out of the garage and when I push the starter button nothing happens.  I begin to get concerned whether my clutch switch or my kickstand switch has gone bad.  After a bit I realize that I haven't turned on the ignition switch.

I honestly am not having a really good time getting old.   :???:

At least you still realize that it didn't start and you're not just sitting there going, Vroom, Vroom.

Been there, done that...

Also have done the same for kickstand, ignition key, etc...

My favorite was after I got the Wing, I nearly called for a tow once since it wouldn't start.

The kill switch on that one is a 3 position switch, with two "No" positions and one "Yes" position.

I was so used to the Valkyrie's rocker style I was convinced I had it in the "Yes" position from muscle memory...

Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

I remember going on a dragon round up ride in Indiana. There was another gentleman there who I knew from previous rides. We had stopped for a break mid trip and when the leader announced that was time to move on the gentleman that I knew came up to me and said my battery is dead. Can you jumpstart me?

At that time, I happen to have a set of small jumper cables, and so I swiftly got my seat off the Valkyrie and started trying to jump the other Valkyrie. About half of the total group had stuck around, trying to help this individual after the second or third try, I looked at his key, it was off

He was embarrassed and so was I for him.

I rarely forget my wallet, but... I forgot it once when I drove to Canada with
my Mother In Law. They picked us to scrutinize at the border, they pulled
us to the side and looked through the trunk and our suitcases. They never
asked me who I was. Pre 9/11...

More recently (a couple of weeks ago) I forgot it when we went in Carolyn's
car to a wedding five hours away. I directed us there on backroads with
the BFGPS. I got distracted by a couple of phone calls and didn't notice
when she missed a couple of turns, so when we got there she loaded the
BFGPS software on her phone and cast it onto the screen in her car... she
followed the blue line home without my help... she (and of course I) liked
the blue line better than her "regular" GPS software...

On a group ride one day, I forgot my passenger and almost made it out of the parking lot.

That didn't go well.

I was going to post a reply but forgot what the subject was!

Carl, you realize you're a member of a rather large unnamed club. The only reason it's unnamed is because we all probably wouldn't remember the name anyway. As for the kill switch, I once won a one dollar bet with a Goldwing rider as to why his Wing wouldn't start. I let him keep his $1.  ;)

Sorcerer

We had a gentleman leave the parking lot. His girlfriend was just about ready to get on board when he took off like a rocket. It took one of our guys 10 miles to catch him. Pointing at his back seat he soon realized it was empty and shouldn't be. She wasn't amused. We ribbed him about it till he died of a heart attack years later.

DIGGER

I have forgotten my wallet several times on day rides.  Now I carry $100 stuffed in my owners manual in my saddle bag as back up.
