A Pause...

I peeked outside through the pulled-back curtain to test the accuracy of the latest meteorological prediction. Hmmm, it appeared the weather guessers had gotten it right after all... Sometimes they do that, ya know...

I smiled as I watched the gentle rain landing upon our girl resting comfortably on her side stand: The supplemental 'Valkyrie Viagra' on the opposite side in support while under her half cover just outside our motel room door, she appeared quite comfortable indeed... I was comforted by the knowledge I'd taken the room for a couple of nights, so we'd be staying put right there. Now and then, I've rediscovered, planning can actually pay off...

A strong line of showers with lots of brilliant lightning flashes, loud window-rattling thunder, and swirling blustery wind had passed over us during the late night, but now only the light drizzle and gentle breeze remained. 'Accurate' weather forecasts can indeed be mighty helpful, especially during the volatile and sometimes violent Spring season.

We were pausing to kill some time before the next regular Valk Gathering, this time the one in Slade, KY. Intermittent showers in the forecast had made it risky to ride long distances every day, so getting closer in smaller increments and brief pauses here and there made sense to this tenderfoot. In case you're wondering, I definitely do not miss a major downside to the road trips back-in-the-day when limited time meant I'd had to ride long days in any/all weather conditions to stay on schedule!

That strong line of showers had been part of a cold front that had worked its way across us, so that would mean an adjustment in the wardrobe items to be laid out before departure. This is considered a positive thing by this aging member of the 'true weaker sex'...

Heat has become ever more difficult to tolerate, so cold is increasingly being viewed as a welcome friend... to a point, of course... I worry that I might be evolving into a fair-weather-only rider... The next thing you know, I'll probably be interested in buying a Harley, I reckon... Heck, our girl will likely even be converted into a trike later this year! The inclination of that 'slippery slope of aging' is indeed becoming steeper by the day!
