I was out this morning, late this morning.  Temps were above 90F but in the breeze I was quite comfortable.  I brought the bike to a stop across from a cage signaling a left turn.  I nodded to the driver and held the Valkyrie dead still for five to seven seconds with both feet on the pegs as  I waited for the intersection to clear.

As I rolled off I wondering why can I not do that during the slow race?

Heh, same... When I commuted daily through rush hour traffic I would frequently come to a complete stop, feet on pegs, and just sit there for ages, over and over again...

Slow race? Nope, all that muscle memory is just gone.
Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

I was at a rally and a Trials guy was there to do demo shows. They had a slow race. When the next to last guy put his foot down, the Trials bike guy was a half of bike past the starting line.  :)

In the 80s I rode with a group of old Wing riders. Most had ridden since the 50s and one had stories about riding in the 40s. I was the 'kid' in the group, in my 20s and riding a Suzuki GS1100.

One guy was a trials rider who always amazed me. He'd keep his feet up at stop lights and take a perfect line through every curve. When it rained he was always ready, because he would put his rain suit on while riding.

I remember being handily beaten in the slow race at the first visit to Eureka Springs. I think everyone called him five-nineteen (5'19")and he was riding a BMW dual sport or something, it had odd mismatched headlights I know. I had to turn my head almost completely backward to see what little progress he had made. Was it him or the machine or probably both but regardless...great balance.

I can only keep my feet on the pegs for more than a few seconds while stopped on my trike and my sidecar rig.   But on them I have it down!   :2funny:
