What are the most popular bike choices that the VRCC members buy to go along with their Valkyrie or as a replacement for their Valk ?

I'm 68 yers old and love my Valk but lately have been getting that teenage yern for something new.
Any suggestions ? I already like the ST1300.
2001 Valk (72,500 5/2011) & 2009 ST1300 (new 5/10)

Technically "my" second bike is actually my wife's primary bike, but seeing as I ride it more than she does... if the shoe fits...

And... It's a 2004 ST1300... And while it's no Valk, can't TOUCH the Valk for long distance comfort FOR ME, it's a BLAST to zip around on...
Never ask a geek 'Why?',just nod your head and slowly back away...

Sorry Don, our weather sucks and I have to do something to amuse myself. :2funny: :2funny:

In all that levity, I forgot to add my second bike. It's made by Raleigh, chain drive, 26" wheels, and makes a lot of weird noises while going down the road. Sounds a bit like the old steam engines of yore!! If my wife would ever get over the silly idea that her half of the garage is for parking her car in, then maybe I could sneak home another bike, maybe a restoration project. She said she dreads the thought of 20 unfinished projects sitting in there, just me is a big enough one. Wonder what she meant by that??

I have an '04 Wing for my second and a 08 Harley Heritage for my third

I just picked up a 97 Tourer as my (wife) second bike.  I know I will enjoy it as much as I do my IS (if she lets me)

I don't plan on getting a second bike, but I went and rode a Rocket III a couple of years ago, and I went back yesterday
to see if they had a Rocket Roadster yet... one of those motocross bikes with street tires and turn signals (motard?) wouldn't
be bad either...

-Mike "no Roadster yet..."

PAVALKER

I have a VTX1800 R, which shares some of the accessories and tire sizes as the Valk.... but it is a different ride.  you can get a great deal on VTX's since they are no longer made, but still plenty around.  Price is great, ride is great and it's a Honda too.   But if you are looking for something very different..... there are many options.

I'm 65 yrs. old and 2 years ago I added a 2nd bike to the garage. While there are many here who feel as though you should own as many Valks as possible, I am of the mindset that if you have more than one bike, they should be completely different. Keeping that in mind, I bought a 2008 Suzuki V-Strom to keep my '98 company in the garage. After doing the usual mods to both bikes; seat, risers, etc I consider both of them to be "coast to coast' comfortable.

Good Question Afew years ago,I felt the itch for another ride. After being spoiled by my 98 Tourer,I knew I wouldn't be happy with anything like a Harley so I got a 99 Interstate. Both great but different bikes.Last year that itch came back so I got another Interstate which I SuperValked. So now 3 Valks in the garage but all different. Tough choices when I go in to go for a ride.

Right now my second bike is an '01 1100 Shadow ACE Tourer that I'm fixing to sell.  Sunday I'm going to look at an I/S.  If I end up buying it I will solo my Sandman, my '97 Tourer.  If I had to replace Sandman, the Victory Vision Tour in Pearl White has been tickling my fancy.  One of the reasons is Victory must have been seen a SuperValk cause the Vision Tour has a removable trunk but my primary reason is I like the looks.  The lines remind me of fighter aircraft.

the 2nd bike is a 2004 BMW R1150RT-P  Police bike I got that was retired from the City of Santa Monica with only 46000 miles on it.   Its my one seater urban assault vehicle with the run flat tires, abs, oil cooler etc    It came with a combo rifle and shotgun rack on the right crash bars but I am afraid someone will steal the guns while I am in court and I dont leave em on the bike

Nothing shall ever replace the Valkyrie however and I will be on the Valk when we come to Inzane

I guess thats what makes the world go around  :-\  I think that Vision looks like it smacked every limb when it fell out of the ugly tree  :( . At $23,000 plus they should give it a cool name like Harley does...The Screamin' Bozo comes to mind  :o

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

Geeez I had a second, third and fourth bike last summer  :D
62 and un-employed (semi-retired)  :-\
For now my second bike is my 81 CB900 Custom - fun for a couple hr ride and I can take it to Vintage Japenese MC shows  ;D

I considered a ST1100, tried a short ride, did not feel comfortable with that short / straight handlebar.

I had an 86 Magna last summer, wifes bike, that was kinda fun, I might consider a newer 750 Magna for a third bike or a 650 something or other  :uglystupid2: I'm still looking - first things first  an income to support my habits  :D

For what it's worth (not much) this Nighthawk was my second bike but now it's my first, and only, since I sold the Valk.
The Valk was just too much for me at 82 years old.  The 'Hawk is much lighter and handles well.
It will never take the place of my Valk either for comfort, or in my heart, but it keeps me riding.

I keep on hanging on to my all original 1985 Vmax  - cause there's times when I just needs that raw acceleration.

I sure do like the ST1300 I bought last May.

I've tested and tested Goldwings, just can't get a feel for um. This winter I couldn't find anything to do outside. Inside, watched TV till blue in the face, fit with the spouse or what ever you want to call it and all to naught. Found a nice one owner unkept 2k Tourer and what a relief. Like both bikes, but the Interstate is still my favorite, although I think the Toure is a little sprier. 66 years and going to try and get as many more as the Good Lord will let me and enjoy every one of them. I hope to someday get a wing for the fun of it, but I am eyeing the ST1300. Enjoy what ever you ride.

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

Yep.  I can attest to this - my bud has an '09 and doesn't pass up an opportunity to go by me on my '85.

I guess technically I don't have a 2nd bike.  But I do have free access to my dad's 95 Wing since it is in my garage and I maintain it for him since he don't ride it much.  I also have an atv (Honda TRX400EX) that is a hoot in the dirt.

If I had the money for a new 2nd bike, I would actually have a hard time deciding.  I really like the Can-Am Spyder because it is so different.  I also would like a sport tourer...probably a new Kawi Concourse.  And I also think one of those dual-sport adventure tourers would be cool...like a KLX or maybe even a V-strom. And finally, I know the wife (and me too) would enjoy a new Wing.

And finally, as to the comments on the Victory Vision...I had many of the same thoughts when I first saw the pics.  Way too spacey.   But I saw one in person at the blue-gray ride last year and it was pretty nice.  So it is growing on me a bit.  I felt the same about the goldwings when they changed in 2001.  It took awhile but now I think they are pretty cool looking.

I had a 2003 Suzuki Bandit 1200S I've wished many times I had not sold it  :(

I put 31,000 trouble free miles on that bike and it always got me home. IMO the Bandit is one of the best bangs for the buck out there.

Don't have a 2nd bike....as yet.  However, I'm getting the itch to build my own.  Thinking about starting with an old Yamaha xs650 motor for a home built chopper/bobber project.
I can't help about the shape I'm in
I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin
But don't ask me what I think of you
I might not give the answer that you want me to

Well............ My second bike was this Rocket 3.

Split riding time for a year & a half with my Valk.
Then........ with me riding the Rocket & Kim riding my Valkyrie on some long trips we discovered two things.
One, she was fully capable of handling the Valkyrie and loved the comfort it offered.
And two, the Valk was more comfortable than the R3 & just fit me better. Just a personal decision on my part.
Soooo... the Rocket went on the auction block and Kim got her "second" bike.

But we still kept her first bike, a 2005 Spirit 750 currently on loan to Kim's brother in Melbourne.
He totalled out his Suzuki C-90, then after taking his vacation time off to recover found out he was laid off from his job. He only netted $1800 after paying off the bank loan on his 'zuki which was his only ride. So the Spirit resides in Melbourne until he finds steady work again & can afford a bigger bike of his own.

Possible future "second" bikes for me may be a Rocket 3 Roadster. It has the pegs moved back in a more "Valk-like" riding position.  :cooldude:
But I have a feeling any future bike either of us get will always be a second bike.
There still is nothing like a Valkyrie! 8)

'13 F6B black-the real new Valkyrie Tourer
'13 F6B red for Kim
'97 Valkyrie Tourer r&w, OLDFRT's ride now!
'98 Valkyrie Tourer burgundy & cream traded for Kim's F6B
'05 SS 750 traded for Kim's F6B
'99 Valkyrie black & silver Tourer, traded in on my F6B
'05 Triumph R3 gone but not forgotten!

My "other" bike is a '07 Yamaha FJR1300a.  Comfortable, fast, and handles great.  It is hard to beat the Valk for comfort though.

I did and still do not like the looks of the new Wing. I had and liked the looks of the 1500 Wing just never could warm up to the 1800 Wing or the Rune. I can't see myself ever learning to like the looks of the Vision. I just saw a picture on the Spyder site of a Vision Trike and it is just a spacey looking. Of course to tell the truth I really don't like the looks of my Spyder, however it is unique in design has awsome power and is a real blast to run around on and will draw a crowd in the middle of nowhere..

First bike: 2000 Standard set up as Tourer   :cooldude:
Former second bike: 2007 'wing - gone, and not yet replaced   :tickedoff:
Second bike: 1971 MT50 Trailhopper   :2funny:
Third bike: Raleigh Technium 21-speed  ???

If / when Janet takes the Beginner's Course and wants to ride herself, we'll probably add a VTX1300R.  If she doesn't want to ride herself, it's probably another 'wing.

Thinking really hard about getting a plated XR650R, but you guys with multiple Valkyries are killing me...  I'd love to find a neglected one and give it a new home.

First bike  99 Interstate trike...

Second bike  2005 Yamaha Majesty 400cc scooter. I've gotten over 60 mpg on occasion, and also been stopped doing 90+ on it. It's comfortable, stable at speed & very nimble. A little slow on the startup. Both of these have sound systems with subwoofers and are different enough so that  I don't get confused, except sometimes I forget to shift at lights on the Valk, but you know the Lady can start up in 3rd...
