OK, so it has become an early spring project...  Temps in the 50's, thunder and lightning last night, lots of rain to wash the salt off the roads...  Spring is just around the corner, and I've gotta get my butt in gear!

Painting aluminum is hard...  Degrease, sand, rinse, sand more, rinse more...  Special primer (Zinc Chromide) purchased at the local marine dealer ($11/can), marine grade paint ($10/can), by Mercury, to match the primer type, tape off the shiny stuff, and plug all the holes...

Ready for the primer coat, and it kinda looks like I'm makin' an Army bike...

Nasty fumes...  Walk around a bit buzzed while I wait for the primer to dry, and now I'm ready for the color.  Black to match my baby, and to make it just a bit faster...

Final result looks better than I expected (still got the tape on the shiny bits)...

With the polished Triple Tree, from Daryl, and the chrome fork bullets, with the chrome part of the 'slide', and this is gonna be very cool  :cooldude:

We've got our Wisconsin VRCC Chapter lunch/dinner tomorrow, so I'll be talking with Daryl about the install of the new 'Off-Set' Trees...  Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait...  ;D

More Pic's, and an update, when we get together for the install.

Thanks again for lookin'.

Just when the highway straightened out for a mile
And I was thinkin' I'd just cruise for a while
A fork in the road brought a new episode
Don't you know...

Conform, go crazy, or ride a motorcycle...

I saw a total blacked out Valkyrie (engine, forks, crashbars , everything was painted black ) at The Honda Hoot a few years ago. I looked at it awhile and it never seemed to grow on me. It will be interesting to see how you mix the black and chrome .The picture in my minds eye thinks it could turn out sweet  :cooldude:

I've seen alot of people that thought they were cool , but then again Lord I've seen alot of fools.

The forks are looking great.  Bet it turns out sharp with the chrome.  But I don't see how you can get anything done in a shop that neat.  Where are the scattered tools and bike parts?  Mine Valk has looked like it exploded since Thanksgiving. :-[
