Audiovox cruise control

Since the Audiovox cruise uses coil impulses instead of wheel speed to set the cruise, does that mean that you can use it as a high idle setting?

If you rev it up some in the garage, you should be able to set it?  And, you are really setting rpm, not speed.  So, if set it at 55 in fourth gear, and then shift up to 5th, it should hold at the same rpm, but a higher speed?  Also, since there is no clutch disconnect, it keeps working while you shift?

I wouldn't try to set the cruise if not riding.  The RPMs could run away from it long before it could correct, and you could end up in a viscious cycle..........

It happens with the over-rev feature built into it. You can find out when you get on the highway and the cruise is operating. Just pull in the clutch and let the engine rev up, it will disconnect the cruise after a couple seconds. And as Kingbee said....do not try setting/testing it while in the garage. You're asking for trouble big time, besides....at low rpm or speeds the cruise has a tendency to surge since the reaction isn't instantaneous. When riding sometime, to test that fact set your speed when moving at 25-30 mph, it will hold but won't be smooth.

OK, got ya.  It would work, but without a load, the engine will react much faster than the box can control it.  Thanks.
