#3 O-ring

Anyone ever had trouble with the #3 o-ring getting broken/torn/cut?  I have pulled the rear wheel twice and the o-ring was broken/torn/cut each time? Any ideas?  This is on a 2000 Interstate. Never had trouble with my 98 standard? I am very careful to put the wheel on straight. This time I pushed the flange on a couple of time without the wheel and it pushed on fine, I could feel it when it went over the O-ring. I looked at both of them with a jewlers loop and I can't  tell if they were cut or not but don't think so, as it is not a clean seperation. Both have about 20-25% missing.  Thanks

first, make sure you have the right size o-ring in there.  second, make sure flange doesn't have any sharp edges.  third, make sure you apply grease to the flange before putting it on the drive unit. 

I haven't seen the third o-ring damaged on mine.

Also coat the o-ring with grease before you install it.
