Which octane gas?

Just curious what octane gas everybody is running and which gives the best MPG and or power

These bikes were designed to run on regular. Some, like myself, have found with the addition of advanced timing via the trigger wheel and other devices, it will ping some on regular. I use at least mid-grade, but many still are able to continue with regular even with those changes. It didn't change my mileage however.

Trigger wheel, ported & relieved, Vicking exhaust, CT on rear, run 89 with ETHANOL.    1 full can of SeaFoam in the riding searon and then when stored for the winter, same thing, full can, run it long enough to get it in the carbs, shut it off and shut off the fule valve.     Cytek on the battery and MGM is happy for the winter........

When on the road and 89 isn't available I run 87,  NO PING..

I run premium non-ox as I have an I/S with a 6 degree trigger wheel and it will ping on anything less when lugged. Besides, I despise being told to run that ethanol crap.

Has anyone told you that the 6 degree wheel is too much advance for the I/S? The I/S ICM has more advance in the midrange (extra 2 degrees) which makes your total advance 8 deg. Too much for this engine. Find a 4 deg wheel for the I/S.

Thanks for the concern but I've got 120k on this set-up with no problems at all. When I installed it, there was no such thing as a 4 or 6 degree, they were all 6. I tried the ICM? mod, but it rattled like crazy (even on premium) and went back to the trigger wheel. Works great as long as you run premium. I can lug it hard with 0 rattles.

Recommend the lowest grade that will not ping.
