Blinking red tail light

Coming home from the St Lu wrench party a week or so ago I saw a BMW that had bulb in his tail light that would blink approx 2 quick blinks every min or so. I found it kinda neat. It was rainy and windy and could not see him- 100 yds ahead of me- due to the rain and road spray. Only thing I saw was his tail light flash. Where could a guy get one?

I've been running one of these for years, and it really gets attention.  I've had cagers pull up along side me and say 'your brake lights flash when you stop'...  Just what the doctor ordered    Also, I notice that folks stop further back from me than they did without the SOMA light (Stay Off My Ass).

Got the one that replaces the 1157, and it comes with the 'flasher' base, and 2 bulbs (very bright).

If ya order from Kissan, ask about the discount for MSF instructor (or in your case, EMT?).

I don't have anything in the tail light, but I did put the electrical connection turn signal conversion in the turn signals so that they are run lights also.  That help some, but they're not that bright in daylight. 

However, I also added a lighted tag frame from Custom Dynamics.  It gets noticed.....they DO see it.  It does this........

It just plugs into the brake wiring; simple enough to install and works with any bulb (I also run the 3496; Thanks, Big BF!)

I think you are talking about the Back Off like TLANZ said.
Black dog has one on his bike, it works so good that after following him, I decided I needed one.
I am about ready to install it. Looks to be a simple procedure to hook it up.

+ 1 on the Signal Dynamics Back-Off. They make an LED friendly version in case you need it. I can be set for 4 flashes then steady on for as long as the brake lever or pedal is depressed or to repeat a flash sequence while stopped. Easy install.

Here is a couple more ideas for you. 

I got one of these brakelight modulators and installed it on the third brake light in my pickup canopy.  Works great.  It will do what I think you are trying to do and inexpensive too.

Also, I installed a Knight Riderz LBO7 modulating brake light on the back of my sissy bar pad.  That model of light provides a few options but the one I use is four quick strobes and then to constant when the brake is applied.  I got a sheet of ABS (I think) black plastic about 1/8" thick and made a pad cover (like the chrome ones you can buy for 30+ bucks) to mount it to and ran the wires down the sissy bar to the brake light.  Looks great, adds an extra brake light up higher in cagers line of sight and was easy to do.

A Whelen TIR-3R (red led) with a chrome mounting enclosure mounted on a fabricated bracket attached to the license plate can be programed to several flash rates or down to steady.  This light is very bright and is guaranteed to get someone's attention when attached to the brake light...JTL
