thinking about adding a j&m cb to my tourer.  lookin at the pictures of the mount, i'm wondering if it will clear my choke lever.  anybody added one to yours?  a pic would be nice, too.

Can't do pics until photostash is fixed.  ???
I have the J&M on my tourer and it clears the choke lever.

I also have the J&M CB on my tourer.  Choke lever clears but is a little more difficult to get to.  Really happy with the CB.  I got the solo unit but since my wife has started to ride with me, I wish I had the dual rider unit.

Great company to deal with.  Very good customer service.

Lee, consider using "Just Pics" instead.

It's likely Photostash and Google' list won't get cleared up for a long time.

I had one on my 98 Valkyrie cruiser, no problems. I also installed the dual talk harness with her button mounted on my leatherlyke saddlebag. I worked great! I also had a very small radio I attatched to the CB unit. We could listen to music, talk to each other and other riders. I took it off and gave it to a friend after my wife stopped riding with me regularly when we had kids. It is not cheap but I would recommend it!

i have it and it works well.

Yes- it is a little a tight fit...but, no problem.. Just tell them you have a valkyrie and the have specific mount for the valks.  (the other mount won't work).

Here's a pick - but, you can't see the J&M well....lol

What make of antenna are you using? What range do you get? I have one on my GL1100 that never worked well (though the sterio is great for the hiway). I'm wondering whether to put it on the new I/S or look around for the Hondaline CB...

I bought a 2 foot antenna from J&M.

It's always worked well..... although my spouse and I are usually always within a visual distance of each other...

We have a J&M Radio on Marcia's Tourer.  We opted for the 3 ft antenna.  Have been out riding together a couple of times and it works great.  (We transferred the radio over from her Nomad.)  When we ordered the handlebar mount for it, they sent us the polished bracket.  This one was not the right one.  It wasn't tall enough to clear the choke lever.  The painted (black) bracket was tall enough to clear...but just.  It is a task to reach in and get the choke lever.

Going one step farther, how did you tune the antenna? I went to the Truck Place and the guy said you can't tune an antenna without a ground plane, and he wouldn't even try. Mostly I want it for solo rides out of town, like from Alberta to Ontario this summer, to listen to the truckers on radar, road and weather conditions.
Any thoughts on the Honda CB? The I/S is rigged for it but I don't seem to have one...

thanks everyone for the input.  i'll still be glad to see any pics you can come up with. my wife and i are planning a 10 day trip with my parents.  they're on a yamaha venture and, of course, have the cb.  i'm definitely planning on adding the j&m.  just wanted to know more about it.

J & M can tell you how to tune the antenna yourself. I've had this conversation, but best if you hear it from them.
