Anyone tried these products with noticable results or are they snake oil?

Road Bike magazine is suggesting them to have yer ride run cooler.....................

With the ECT mod I thought it might help.

I have tryed the Purple Ice and will put some back in when I find it but to say it made a huge difference well my bike was not overheating in the first place and with no temp gauge who knows but it did not hurt anything..

Water wetter is one of the few products that really work. I have many examples of it helping cars and I use a mix of 10 percent antifreeze a whole bottle of water wetter and the rest distilled water. My cooling system looks like the day it came off the showroom floor. In cars I have usually seen a drop of 5 to 25 degrees  even on the factory temp gauge. The other thing I noticed was the vehicle that you use it on doesn't retain heat as long. Usually in summer here you can feel the heat pouring off the vehicle when you shut it down with water wetter that goes on a whole lot less time. I have seen it make a difference in cars that run to hot but it wont fix a broken cooling system. I also like the fact that it keeps the cooling system very clean and doesn't show any deposits in the radiators. I agree that most additives are snake oil so it was really refreshing to find one that actually works. I am not affiliated with the company but I know a good product and use it at my shop.

I run water wetter and distilled water, no antifreeze. It lowered my bike temp by a solid 15degrees.
But... I believe the water has a lot to do with it. Antifreeze isn't as good of a coolant as plain ole water is. I use the water wetter because it has the additives in it for corrosion resistance.
Supercharged bikes tend to run hot, so I need all the help I can get.

I see no reason why these products shouldn't behave as advertised.  If you're tempted to use them with straight distilled water for the best cooling properties, just remember to add the proper type and amount of glycol coolant in the fall before there is a risk of freezing.

I use these products in this ride all the time.

The radiator, is really too small for the size of engine on it.

The old 350 stock engine it cooled fine.

I even had a longer radiator built by Be Cool in their Canadian shop.



It currently runs a electric pusher fan, engine flex blade fan, a 3/4 drive big ole socket in the lower hose for a thermostat, (that is where a lot of the new cars have them now) with a tad bit of the 3/4 drive hole welded shut to cause a small restriction.     Before water wetter it ran 215 at 70 MPH, 175 to 180 in town.   After water wetter it runs 195 on a triple digit day and 160 to 170 in town.      Talked to an engineer friend of mine and he said the front wheel, fender and the frame all bounce the air around the radiator.    I did add a plastic lip to direct air to the radiator a few years ago.   Clear plastic right below the tranny cooler.

use the waterweter in the st ,the alfa s, the benz (totalled,, caput.) but have yet to use it on the valk after reading somewhere on this board about the tendency of the f-6 to have head gasket problems.
it does run hot , the fan comes on often in traffic , f-225 by the oil temp.
i m assuming it has a 4 or 6 wheel ,wouldn t that make it hotter?
i ll find out soon when replacing the belts before summer riding.
and this year i might try the water weter, after  all if its good for the st ,its good for the f6. has any one tried different thermostat (s)?
yesterday we rode a gl 1800 for the first time . what a pleasant surprise, it moved swiftly ,handled smartly and felt so much lighter than it looks (exept when off)  the feel of the st with the seating of the valk. the legs kept on hitting the lower cowl when using the cruising pegs and Chantal conplained of her elbows hitting the speaker grilles,but i would take one at the right price
