Valk Service Manual

Hello all!  Absolute newbie here.  I'm looking to get a Service manual.  Just curious if the original Honda manual is worth the added cost over the Clymer manual, ($60 vs. $25 on ebay), or if the Clymer will give me all the info I need.  Any help is greatly appreciated!

Welcome Dave! 

A hard copy of the Factory Service Manual is great to have.  Any dealer can get you one, or you can download it from Dag Verpeide's Valkyrie Norway website, http://www.valkyrienorway.com/index.html.  Click the link and go down the left side of the page to the last link under Technical.  It's about 150MB.  Even if you don't want to download the manual, you'll probably want to spend some time at Dag's site.  There is lots of great information there.

I have both but I actually prefer the soft copy better.  If I am doing a new procedure or one that I am not real familiar with, I will print those pages off so I can get them dirty and not worry about it.  the hard copy is used more for quick reference..."now...what is the torque on the rear axle bolt...flip...flip...aahh...81 Ft-Lbs...got it".

I have both and there are benefits to each.  You get different pictures and views which sometimes helps.

If I had to only have one, it would be the Honda manual.  I like the hard copy vs. the cd mainly because I write things in the margins, keep notes for future reference, and record all my maintenance.  Dog-eared pages and grease stains are badges of honor...it's not a collectors item...I use mine.

I use the manual from Dag's site. Very nice and I appreciate him posting it. The only two issues I had with it are one of the pages is blacked out, and the wiring diagrams are nearly impossible to read.

Rattlebars has the wiring info, and I don't need the page that missing.

I'm still planning to pick up the Honda service manual, Something comforting about flipping through pages.

I have both versions, electronic and paper.  Got the paper one before Dag posted his.  I use them both also.  I prefer reading the paper manual.  If I'm doing something on the bike, I haven't done before I will read the paper manual several times and print out the pages to use when I'm working on the bike.  I also use Kulow's Maintenance Guide also.
