Replacing Timing Belts

I'm surprised there isn't a post on the steps to remove and replace the timing belts. I'm also replacing the trigger wheel at the same time. I just want to make sure I don't slip a tooth on any of the sprockets. From what I've read, that would be disasterous.
Does someone have the process written down with all the safety stops in place?  I don't have a manual.

Daniel, I had his same question. The Shoptalk article on the timing belts just says to look at the manual.
I ride a motorcycle because nothing transports me as quickly from where I am to who I am.

To change the wheel, you have done everything needed to change the belts (the belts have to come off to change the wheel).

Check out sgt joes...article I linked.

All that said...you SHOULD have a manual if you dig this deep in these machines.

Only the right belt is removed to change the trigger wheel!

I printed the two pages out of the manual you  suggested. I think between the two pages and the posts on the trigger wheel replacement, I should be in good shape.

You are right about the manual, I would feel more comfortable having one, but, viewing it on the web was very helpful.

Thanks again,

I did mine awhile back, I would suggest mark everything to make sure it doesn't move and pull the plugs and  use a socket and rachet to turn the engine over after finishing to make sure nothing is out of timing and no funny noises or binding. Not hard to do and you'll feel better when you start it  with the starter the first time. JMHO

The best advice I can give from experience is BE CAREFUL.  I marked with red paint and got the right side off, equels warped valve.
