Ordered 2 130/90/17 Avons from Jake Wilson. Good price. Delivered to the house for $150.00 for both tires. Got $10.00 off for ordering 2 tires and entered the code that Marty posted cc20 and got $20.00 off and free shipping. Best price I have found on tires. Started to do 2 different orders but would not get the $10.00 off and would have to pay $7.00 on each order being they were under $99.00 dollars.

Here's the web site. When you check out they will take 10 dollars off for ordering two tires. Then there is a place to put the code in which is cc20 and check out. My total was $149.98 delivered.

Those appear to be Bias Ply - yes?

Warlock

Should be. They call it a 130/90/17, but when you look at the spec at Avon the say it's a 140 wide.

David

that's a V-rated tire. will most likely wear faster due to the compound.  at colder temps or when first riding the tire will be more slippery than an H-rated until it warms up.
a v-rated on front and h-rated on back could cause handling problems.

I run a V rated darkside on the back. Also running a V rated at present on the front. My present Cobra has a 4.7 thread depth when new and the new one is 7.5. Will see how it does when mounted. Might be good and might be a nightmare. Will be later this year before mounting it. Got it ahead of time with the deal.

I could have sworn speed ratings deal with the ability of the tire to deal with the heat of high speed operation not traction.  That's a separate rating.  If it was as CA states, Metzler could end up being in a whole lot of trouble as they spec a V rated tire for the front and a H rated tire for the back.

my experience is when a v-rated tire is ridden in the low 40 degree F range, a little slippery until it warms up. this was on a GS1200 Bandit that I had. google searches will show that different rated tires react differently to temps. some info states that a v-rated tires will actually get better wear than a h-rated in the 90-100 degree range.
the info is out, some of it is hard to find though.

Went back and read your Avon post on Jake Wilson store and the coupon. Looks like the place to buy tires even without the coupon.

I hope the don't suck and hope they stick. Looked up specs on both tires. The with of the regular Cobra is 5.9 and the one I'm getting is 5.5. Total height of the Cobra 150/80/17 is 26.5 and the total height of the 130/90/17 is 26.4. Not much difference at all. That's why I decided against the 150/70/17. Nothing wrong with the 150/70/17, I didn't want my speedometer to read more off than it is now. The Avon is a good looking tire. With this tire it is only 0.0039 shorter. Also lot more beef. Stock tire 4.7 mm thread depth and this one 7.5 mm thread depth. Once I run them a bit I'll have to give a report on them.

He's off I-55 near McComb.  I'm off US 98 about an hour north of Pascagoula.  In fact I moved from there to Lucedale in May last year.

Thanks for the info and link to Jake Wilson. Ordered an Avon Cobra for the front. Best price anywhere and added a little chrome to make it over $150 for an extra $20 back plus will get a $25 mail in rebate from Avon and free shipping. That should make a $200+ tire about $103. Thanks for the post and link and the code, etc. Got some new rubber on the way. BTW, I placed the order and within 5 minutes a lady calls from Jake Wilson, seems the p clamps I ordered will be available by next Friday. She wanted to know if I wanted them to go ahead and ship the tire. Wow, talk about service. I'm talking less than 5 minutes. That's great customer service anyway you look at it.
