I have been thinking about getting a Valk Interstate to go with my standard for quite awhile now and have decided to go with something smaller for around town and just a change of pace.
I stopped down to the Triumph dealer today and was looking at the "America" 859 cc my first bike was a Triumph and have always liked the look of them,so my question is what do all of you think about their products lately pro's and con's.

You should do some research go check out a few Triumph forums read all you can . I've never owned a Triumph however a co-worker has one I don't know what model or year its somewhere around 04 or 05 .He's had it in the shop a couple times best I remember it was the coil going bad both times.

Spotty dealer network.

My nephew bought a 675 Daytona and "Triumph of Detroit" has probably the worst warranty assesment of any dealership i've ever seen. ($90.00 for a tire change, with the wheel brought in, not on the bike)

The dealer you were at, was most likely far better though.

Have you ever thought of lightening your standard. I took a 98 standard and was able to remove 80 lbs. and make it more user friendly.

Suzuki Bandit 1250 one of the best bangs for the buck out there IMO ....If money is no problem check out the Kawasaki Concours 1400 . I've rode a couple Connies and they have some beautiful smooth power.Picture below is my Suzuki Banit 1200 S I've kicked myself several times for selling this bike it gave me 31,000 trouble free miles and still ran like a new one when I sold it.

I have a friend who has the Rocket III Touring. It has incredible power, but has been nothing but trouble for him. The worst issue to date was the tranny dropping near the end of last riding season. He ended up buying an Interstate and is dropping the Triumph before the warranty is up.

Did the tranny just fail?  Or was it worse than that?  I like the looks of the R-III Touring, and love the power, but keep hearing about lots of problems.  I'd read in some forums that the trouble was with the early models, and that the 2007 and later ones had been fixed.  But the Touring R-III came out after 2007, so maybe they ain't cured yet.  Life was much easier when Honda made the Valkyrie!

Isn't that the truth!!!!  I have looked at the Triumph III touring..... but there is not a lot of help out on the road....
