I have a 98 Standard. It is a great bike but the wife wants more comfort. If this is a possibility, what would I have to do to transform the current backrest into an I/S type of backrest complete with arm support? She would also like me to add a tourpack. Would I have to also get hardbags?? Will this type of conversion work or not?? As always thanks for your help.

Can be done but it ani't cheap. Parts are expensive.

Seriously, though, you can get a set of Tsukayu hardbags and trunk for about $1300 if you have black bike and don't have to have them painted. They are nice, I had both on my standard and they worked great. No armrests though.

If you wanted OEM bags and trunk, with their mounting brackets you are talking easily $2500+ used. Still really no armrests just the speaker pods.

You can add a set of armrests to either the standard backrest or to an OEM trunked Valk with these.

Yeah man... just buy an IS.

I know at least 3 people that have bought IS's recently for less than $7K.  Two of us for $6K.  And you get 2 bikes.

I just bought one... for the wife... less than a week ago.

Cheaper to keep the wife, if you can stand her!  Just got rid of mine, and I could have bought 3 I/S for that price!  But peace of mind is well worth the investment!!!  :coolsmiley:

Do you know why divorces are so expensive?

Forgot to mention that I could by 2 Valks per year for the next 7 years with the alimony.  Still worth every penny!!!

Just get a I/S

the 2-3 grand you would likely spend for a i/s trunk and saddle bags would be much better put toward another bike.

i have a standard and have much more invested than insurance will pay off

Progressive allows you to purchase additional coverage for accessories. I carry an extra 6K.
