Removing rear brake caliper

I would like to remove the rear brake caliper on my 1999 interstate, the problem is with the lower pin on the right side (it has a rubber cover over it) can not figure how to remove it to remove the caliper. Any help would be great...Thanks

Its a whole lot easier and Im thinking necessary to remove the wheel before removing the caliper.  Once the caliper plate is free you just unbolt that forward pin and slide the caliper off.......while its on the disk it cant slide far enough to come off the rear pin (as I remember)  Someone else may have  atrick but I say remove the wheel and all will become clear.

You cannot slide the caliper off the pin unless you drive the axle out enough to remove the caliper and its mounting bracket.  I found it out the hard way when I was changing pads.  If you're going to do this, you might as well remove the wheel and service the wheel flange and final drive splines.

I have a 99' I/S and remove the rear caliper to clean it and compress the pistons. I just have to remove 2 bolts, #11 and #13 looking at a parts fiche. #13 is a little tedious but do-able and there is enough room for the pin end in the caliper when backing it out of the bracket.

That pin with the rubber boot is removable. 10mm box wrench, I think. Did it last year on my I/S.

+1 on removing the pin, did it tonight (well my buddy did for me )
