I have removed my final drive shaft.  I am now ready to clean and reinstal everything but I have a couple of concerns.

1. on the end of the drive shaft that goes into the "punkin" there is a metal ring that goes around and sets down into the drive shaft splines. I noticed a 1/4 in. gap in the ring. Is this normal or is something broken?

2. I found Final drive oil  inside the housing that the drive shaft slids into on the final drive. This is after it has set for a couple of days. Is this okay?

3. Also on this same shaft that the final drive slides into I rotated the shaft around to make sure everything felt okay and smoth, and it seems to be okay, but if I twist it back and forth real fast I fill some play and notice a clicking sound. Is this okay?

4. I Changed the final drive oil (Blue Ray 80/90 it was red in color) book calls for 80 is 80/90 okay?

Thank you for your time and please excuse my ignorance of mechanics and lack of knowledge of proper names for parts.
Any advice is greatly appreciated

The descriptions of the parts all sounds normal to me.  Make sure you put a little moly grease on each end of the driveshaft.  The oil you put in the final drive.  Was it hypoid gear oil?  I believe it will carry the API GL-5 rating if it is.  It should say "hypoid" gear oil

I hope you have a Honda book for the proper sequence for re-installation.....if not search the shop talk and this tech board the procedure is there many times.  IT MATTERS
