Ok i just got a pull behind trailer and it has a 4 flat plug, my Interstate has a 5 flat plug. Couple folks told me i just need a 4 to 5 adapter plug but after 8 parts stores im not having any luck. Tried wiring and i can get ground, right and left turn. However i cant get run and brake together, just one or the other. So what do i need???? Any idea where to get a adpter plug ?   ...... Thanks Kendall

If your old trailer had separate brake, running and turn lights, you're more likely than not going to have to get a 5wire to 4 wire  tail light converter. Something like these http://www.wiringproducts.com/contents/en-us/d141.html

Do you have an electrical connections relay isolation package? If yes, they do make a a 5-4 adapter that works great.

If you do a search for taillight converter you should find some more hits.

hope this helps you

Have you tried a u-haul store for an adapter? I also find them often in tractor supply stores and harbor freight.

good luck

Kendall, go find a 5 pin plug and rewire it.......  Less headache in the long run.

I tried that convertor thing a few years back and had nothing but trouble.

Finally about 6 months before I sold it, I rewired it and the gremlin went away.

Kendall: Go to Pep Boys and get a Hoppy's trailer adapter. Part # 46255. It's a powered converter and converts the bike from 5 to 4 wires and correctly fires the trailer lights. I have it on both the Valk and Wing for my tent trailer.

Thanks Everyone!    Think ill try PepBoys or Uhaul. RJ rewiring would prolly work better but i dont wire too well, so ill cross my fingers and hope for luck. Thanks Everyone..

Kendall... I just put on the tail light converter on my bike and a 5-wire round connector. The best price I found was at Amazon.com.
I also took it out for a test pull last weekend and something fried my 6mo old battery.

Amazon.com   Hopkins 46255 Power Taillight Converter   $38.59

Etrailer.com  for the plug

I use an extra single connector with the 4 pin,(grounded wire to trailor and bike)
Then 1. Left turn
        2. right turn
        3. Brakes
        4. runing lights

works like a charm...  39cents

Kendall..... I was just heading out to the garage now that it's cooled down below 90deg, to put the new battery in and see if any of the trailer wiring look bad. I'll keep you posted if I find anything. Do you need any help wiring your bike????? Let me know.

I did install a converter on mine (99 IS) many years ago and never had a problem with it.

Looks like my problem is a combo bad battery and bad Hoppys. Took the battery back and it was bad.  I had them test the new one and it was bad too. I got a better battery but it's about 1/2in taller. The trailer tested good but when I tested the Hoppys, all pins tested with 12+ volts with only the key on. I bought it thru Amazon.com so now I need to see if they will warranty it. It's always something.  >:(

Thanks for letting me know... Sounds like you had a run of bad luck..
