I tried to remove the inner fairing (where the front speakers are) on my interstate and found that the 4 small bolts securing it have been stripped. Any body got a suggestion on how to get them out?  VMB (Virgil)

Actually it's most likely that the brass mounts that the bolts screw into have broken loose from the front part of the fairing. Its very common, I've had to JB weld all of them back in (so have alot of others here on the board). Sooooo the ones that turn freely can usually just be pulled out gently... well with gentle force..... Once you get them out you can just JB weld the the brass mount nuts back in place and shouldn't have any more trouble. Lots of posts here about the same problem.

Hope it works out.

Very common problem just put a little pull on the speaker panel and turn the screw at the same time the insert will back out. And as already stated jb weld or epxoy them back in be careful not to get in threads.

One more trick.  Put anti-seize on the screw and screw into the insert, then push it into the fairing.

You guys are something! Tried your method and it worked like a charm! I'll be sure to use the anti-sieze when I re-attach. Thanks again to all that responded.  Got to get this baby ready for a trip to Montana. Yeha!
