Because of people on this board reporting troubles of the side-stand spring bolt breaking, a few years ago I bought one for a spare.  Well, yesterday I broke mine while riding in a horse pasture (camping at Ride for Sight Alberta) and I was able to install my spare bolt in about ten minutes.  Thanks folks!

Funny, I bought a new one about 7 years ago.
A lot of good it'll do me though, 'cause it's been hibernating in the tool cabinet ever since.
Tomorrow it goes in the saddle bag.

Been packing one arround for years. Also  carrying a small bunge cord and some wire. I saved my bacon on arun to College Station with the mugs.

I broke this flimsy little piece off too a couple of summers ago on a curb/speedbump thing. I didn't want to wait for a new one to arrive so I fab'd up one with a bolt, nuts, spacers, etc. which seems to work just fine; however, I did order the stocker which (I think) is in my saddlebag for the next time.

I replaced mine with a screw headed bolt and put it below the ks bracket so it could never bottom out. I keep the oem and a few other screw head bolts in the bag.

  My rinky dinky pot metal bolt broke on me in my drive way luckily .... propped it up and went to the nearby hdw. store and got me a stainless steel metric bolt and two lock nuts and no mo problems plus I ordered a complete kick-stand from Pinwall Salvage for about $ 20.00 American money , no more worries on the road

Hey, would y'all mind posting the exact specs for that bolt? Man, a non-usable kickstand could be a real problem.

I just took the oem bolt out and went to the hardware store and got a ss one with the phillips head. Screwed it in lower then the bracket. Just enough where the spring did not bind. Attached spring. No pix as it was straight forward. got rid of the ks switch to while i was in there.

Thanks for the thread. I never really thought about being on the road without being able to keep the  kickstand up. That would definitely be problem. Just ordered a new spring and pin as spares to keep in the saddle bag.
