Reliable shop in Denver for tuning my bike?

I need some advice on weather to have a shop tune my bike or TRY it myself.  I am at 66K and it is not running as well as I think it could.  I read about vac lines, desmog, and carb sync....but I am not sure about taking this on.  I am not very mechanically inclined. 

I am also leary of shops and getting quality work.  I have no problem paying for a GOOD shop to do the work.

Any advice?

A lot of these guys have had good things to say about Aurora Honda.  I've never heard anything good about RPM on Wadsworth or Sun Cycle north of Denver.  I bought my 99 new from the Honda dealer on Colfax and I believe their mechanic Carl was a decent Valkyrie guy.  It's been 10 years since I was at their shop so a lot of things may have changed.  You have a lot of dealers to choose from.

The CO HCC guys can steer you in the right direction.  They also have wrench parties once in a while and you could get in on that.  Nice group that loves to ride.

If you don't have glaspaks, you should look closely at his Mild2Wild setups...and you wouldn't have to pay shipping.

Change the Plugs, rebuild the petcock, change the oil, change the coolant.

Check your hydraulic fluids, if they are dark, I mean like coffee or something and don't look clear or

like honey then bleed the things till they do.

I believe you can do this on your own and it will be done right.

Aurora Honda is probably your best bet, Apex in Colorado Springs does pretty good also,your kind of in the middle there in Franktown. As a cohcc member you will get the same answers I bet from others in the club. I agree about the comments on Sun and RPM........

Not in Colorado, but as a comparison, here in Tucson,
I had the local Honda dealer do my valves and carb sync. 2 "non dealer"shops wanted 450 and 400 respectivly. Honda did it for 320. Plus if they buggered it up I'd have recourse.
Fork seals/scrubbers,new pads,new head bearings $370. This was at a private shop and T know the guy from the BMW shop.

If you would of looked at the cohcc.org site we had a spring get together/workshop. We usually do minor maint like carb synching,oil changes etc. There are some pretty knowledable guys in the club that could help.

When I was in Monument two years ago, my front tire went south far faster than I thought it would would and I took it the Honda dealer that Misfit recommended in Colorado Springs and they did a great job.  They knew I was on the road and by the time my brother and I had lunch and came back, I had new skins on the front.  Checked everything back at my brother's house in Monument and everything was tightened to spec and looked good and they didn't rip me off price wise.  Sure, I paid a tad more then if it came from Hard6 or a mail order, but it was not robbery by any shape form or fashion.  I left feeling that they had done me right.  If I was near enough, I would feel comfortable taking it there.  It was a multi dealer - they sold Triumphs, Kawis and Yama's as well as Honda.

I know they did me right when I was there!  Misfit will have to verify the name of the dealer - but they were good.

The dealer in the Springs is Apex that has Hondas,Triumphs etc. Cohcc.org is working fine.....Ditto on MarkT.....
