I need some help  I have tried to look at past posts I know I saw another gear oil besides the honda one any help would be great

I use the 75/90. Manchester Auto Zone on south willow stocks it. I'm sure NAPA or another parts store must stock it in Derry.  I have some still unused in the bottle. (purchased a quart which will do several changes.)

I prefer the 75/140.
the 140 weight when hot will help quiet the gears and the 75 weight when cold will guarranty that flows well.

I use Redline.  But I'd think most any is sufficient, and any synthetic almost certainly is.

Wal Mart sells Pennzoil Marine lower unit gear oil for outdrives on boats. (Rated for 300HP units) It's fully synthetic, 75WX90 and has the GL5 rating which Honda specifies.

The Royal Purple Max Gear also satisfies the requirments for GL5 specification. And for use with hypoid gear which is also specified by Honda.
Just about any good Gear oil (hypoid) that satisfies the GL5 specs will work fine.

What I use:
Synthetic hypoid gear oil 75W90
I'm not uptight about the brand.

i have some of the RP 75w/140 left over from changing oil in my truck, i guess i will use it instead of getting the lighter weight

Yes, 75=140w makes sense to me, but am not sure if "Redline" makes it? anyone know?
Redline is my choice of synthetic oil, although in real life I never get near my bikes redline.
