Picking up a IS in Wylie

A guy from Norway will fly to Dallas (arrive evening Thursday July 15th) and will stay over night in Irvin. He will go to Wylie Friday morning to pick up the IS.
He needs to buy some motorcycle gear, helmets for himself and his wife, bluetooth intercom etc.
Do you have a good recommendation?

They will spend two weeks riding until the fly back home to Norway from NY.
Could you help with a good route from Wylie to NY? They want to visit Oklahoma City, ride Route 66, Niagara Falls. But there must be a lot of things to see during two weeks between Wylie and NY.

Some good suggestions?

For gear, I'd have them check out Moto-Liberty. It's in Dallas, but very near to Irving and the airport:

Another option for gear that's near that area is Bates #2. Bates isn't fancy, and probably wouldn't be the best place for the Bluetooth gear, but good selection of helmets... But I'd go to Moto-Liberty first...

Wylie is about 80 km from the airport, just for reference...

If he needs a hand while in the area, I'm about 15-20 minutes from Wylie, it's very close to me. In fact, we've got a spare bedroom if they'd like a place to stay for free for a night.

As far as the route, if he's got the time, I'd recommend going to Inzane too. He could head up from Wylie/Dallas to Oklahoma City, then start heading north east on 66 right towards Inzane. Maybe head into Canada for a bit and come down through Niagra.

I'd recommend he first either go to Al's or maybe contact Wanderer for a check over of the Valkyrie before this journey begins.  Make sure the splines are greased, the oil is fresh, the tires are not dry rotted, etc.  Kinda' hard to do when you fly in and then pick up the bike with your buddy's shop about 4800 miles (7750 KMs) away.  Or have him come to a wrench party.

If he goes to Als, he can shop for most everything on the list while he's waiting for the checkout of the bike.

That's what I would do.

How many miles on the Valk, Dag? I am guessing Ghillie or GodFire have already looked her over.

Your pal will get the Valk club discounts at Al Lamb's Dallas Honda on gear that will more than offset the tax that they will have to pay wherever they shop in town. Good selection of gear and in route between Irving and Wylie. They would surely enjoy getting the tour of a big Honda shop as well. Need to talk to Colby or Chris in the parts department. Good talking to you the other day. Tell your friend I can pick them up at their hotel on the 16th and take them to the bike. I can then take them to a couple of local shops to help get them geared.
